Baking Soda to wash hunting clothes?

Hey everyone, I was wondering if I could use baking soda in a front load HE washing machine to wash my hunting clothes. I searched around online but didnt really find any solid answers. I'm just being a cheap ass and not going out to buy unscented laundry soap.

Get a plastic bag,fill it with dry leaves and put your stuff in that.

I've been washing my hunting clothes with baking soda for 25+ years. I can't be positive that it works but I do shoot my share of deer every year.

Baking soda works fine.....and yes I am cheap too!

I use ALL Free and Clear year round for my cloths. It doesn't have any scent. I got the tip from an article by Bobby Worthington of North American Whitetail Magazine. I only use baking soda to brush my teeth.

Yes baking soda works fine. It's all I've used for years, trick is not to use to much.

Bet the guys who need to justify the hundreds they spent on all that carbon jazz won't agree but how full is their freezer. Btw it also works to help kill oders in boots, but again a very light application.

I use baking soda and borax (The 20 mule team). The baking soda takes the smell out and the borax cleans the clothes. I have been close to deer with them down wind and they don't smell me.

Freezers full, use scent-lok stuff, didn't really spend hundreds, and agree with ya'll 100%. Baking soda works great for a bunch of hunting applications..

We have had a front loader for three years and I wash my hunting clothes using baking soda with no problems. The thing about HE soap is it dosn't make a lot of suds. When wasting with baking soda there are no suds so you will be ok. I hope this helps.

spend $5 and go buy a bottle of scent shield detergent... stuff is great, so many products on the market for a cheap price to mess around with home stuff MHO...

Never heard of using baking soda!!

I use scent free seventh generation liq detergent with some baking soda tossed in..

No UV brighteners in it.. I also have a few old socks that I stuffed with crushed acorns & pin needles in the storage tote with the clothes.
