must be a southern thing....over the years I've noticed several of our southern brothern...hhmm brethern??which ever,,,lol.... mentioning hunting over deer decoys while during a fire arm season....perhaps because many of them have to hunt hunting clubs and the members that belong are well aware of the usage

This is from a guy in Alabama....

I used the Carry-Lite with the Tail-Wagger all last year with no luck[&o] (to be fair, I was unable to hunt the entire month of January, when the rut is in full-wing down here)

I did have another hunter put the stalk on and shoot it however (do a search for " Dang, He shot My Deer Decoy" ).

After season was over, I painted all the white on the decoy with fluorescent orange spray paint.

I expect that some day we will be reading about some hunter using that old Indian trick of throwing a deer hide over their shoulders and wearing a mounted deer head and antlers on their head. It probably would work pretty good ........ for a while....lol.

For years when we had a new guy join the hunting party, we joked he had to carry the decoys. Of course it was before decoys even existed. I would never use one as I carry enough stuff now and dont need more. Plus I really do not see the need for one. Just another ploy started by the elite tv hunters to get decoys sold, like most of the other gimmick gotta have toys.

I have not tried using a decoy, yet. I can think of times when I wished I had one to keep a buck's attention somwhere other than towards me. I would use it during either season, and probably wouldnt use it if I wasnt in a tree stand. I also wouldnt put it directly under my tree during gun season, as I wouldnt need a deer to get as close to me.

As far as anyone shooting it goes, Id laugh my ass off, right after I explained to them that they would be paying for a new one.
