luberhill
Ok I bought that Honda 6500 inverter generator off my neighbor. He kept the battery on a tender but it’s 6 yrs old and doesn’t crank it well. I can pull start it and it starts first pull but my wife can’t . So.,, it’s a YTZ14s battery ..I see them on eBay that say AGM type , also sealed type etc.. Any idea what’s the best choice ? And should I leave it on the tender all the time ? He gave me the battery tender too but I’m going to keep it in my garage which stays above freezing so maybe I don’t need it ?? This thing is pretty sweet … it’s so quiet compared to my old one Thx for the help
suburbanfarmer
if you are not using it regularly you need to put the battery tender on it; heated garage or not. Edited February 11, 2022 by suburbanfarmer
Farflung
I just start mine once a month. Keeps the battery charge up. Roll it outside to run it. Get it up to temperature before you shut it off. I prefer the sealed type. Buy it locally. try to do it on the same day, like first Sunday of the month.
hueyjazz
That's a motorcycle battery. I doubt it needs to be AGM which would be pricy like $250. I bet a gel would be fine which you can get on Amazon for like $40

Go to Walmart, AutoZone or NAPA and buy a damn battery. You own a Jeep, quality can't be too important. 1

Always trying to start trouble to make up for driving junk
sbuff
A manual should tell you the correct battery that is needed . If not replace with a duplicate of what's in there . If he got 6 years out of old one he was doing something right Edited February 12, 2022 by sbuff

The one that is in there is a Nakika YTZ14s I can’t even find that brand , if I could I would for sure get one . Assume it’s something Honda used at the time and maybe out of business It doesn’t say if it’s AGM or whatever . Most I see are either lead acid or AGM I just wondered which one was better . Walmart and NAPA don’t have a cross reference for some strange reason . There is a local Deka dealer I’ll talk to Monday.. Id rather pay for a good one then one that only lasts a year ! Amazon is just the front, the seller store is Yuasa.. Amazon only stand behinds the standard refund time. Any warranty issues you need to deal with vendor afterwards.
