Call the DEC and ask them. A bunch of people use state land to grow their marijuana, so I don't see an issue there.2 points

if there is a domestic dispute, drugs, or alcohol type calls, the police frown on loaded weapons, but i cant find any laws stating otherwise.1 point

WNY... diet is a huge part of getting in shape... the old saying you are what you eat is very true. I personally think its the most important part of any workout program... learning how to eat properly really makes you feel great and gives you a lot of energy... and makes the working out part work much faster... I love to eat, but I've learned how to eat properly... eating right helps eliminate the weight fluxuations that most people have and develops a better metabolism... and you don't have to deprive yourself of all the foods that you really enjoy... just learn when and how much of those foods you can eat as part of your regular diet.1 point

I have posted this several times, so please forgive me for sounding like a broken record. I am not an expert but in nearly 50 years of hunting it comes from killing or observing other people's kills somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 big game animals, ranging in size from pronghorns and small whitetails to Alaskan bull moose. A center , broadside heart/lung shot will VERY SELDOM drop an animal in it's tracks, regardless of what firearm/ projectile you are using. They nearly always run from 15 to 100 yards and then pile up. If the bullet STRIKES or passes VERY CLOSE to the shoulders, or the CNS (brain or spine). The animal will drop in it's tracks. Quite often a deer will drop at the shot from a high lung shot because the bullet or fragments of it pass close enough to the spine to affect it. A bullet OVER the spine will often drop a critter, but in a matter of seconds or minutes it will usually get up and run off, and may even recover from such a wound. I have butchered my own big game animals for years, and I always pay attention to the effects of the bullet wounds.1 point

Read between the lines. It's a self injury story. Do you honestly think that this story would have made national headlines had the injury occurred with any instrument other than firearm?1 point

It would'nt bother me if someone was using it,just want to helpwith the land.I do pick up alot of trash every year and want to do a positive thing.1 point

Unfortunately Dom, I'm sure that if you did it, some slug would find your plot and be sitting there when you went to hunt it.1 point

no i hear you.. it was more of a generalization, i wasnt really pin pointing you BUT i know where you are coming from. I am in the same boat minus the child but i spent most of 2011 on the house so for the beginning portion of 2012 is my time unless something needs to be fixed on the house or what now. ive owned the house for 3 years now in march and spent just about everyday working on it lol. i told the wife its my time now, she didnt like it as she says we need to do this we need to do that, AKA i need to do this I need to do that lol. she says "WE" like she has a mouse in her pocket or something...1 point

Why is this news? Just goes to show the liberal slant in the media. If I went to a car show and hit someone with my car in the parking lot, do you think that would make the national news? We should just ban cars all together, actually. They cause more deaths than guns.1 point

Back in the 60's there was a movie called "The Hustler " with Paul Neuman staring as Fast Eddie Felson . One of the guys at work started calling me Fast Eddie and it caught on . There are guys I havn't seen in 20+ years that still call me thet . After putting on weight over the years , I was thinking about dropping the "s" from the name ... not !1 point

My Frame and stocks came today. Turns out the gun had a few shots on it, so the deal was changed a bit, but I still got a good deal on it. Im happy with the gun and will be taking the frame apart to clean it real good this weekend at some point. Im hoping to make a deal on a ML barrel for it at the gun show tomorrow. If not, Ill be talking to the guy Bubba suggested. Here it is...1 point

Assuming you will only be doing day hikes out of a main camp... -Water filtration: I'd go for a base camp purifier like http://www.rei.com/product/737349/katadyn-base-camp-water-filter, and just fill bottles from that; hand pump filters also are good but require more work on your part. -Tent: Check out http://www.steepandcheap.com. They offer a new deal every 20 minutes or so, and they put up at least one backpacking tent a day I've noticed, at really great prices -Ultralight Stove: I wouldn't skimp on this. Try and get a nicer one if you can. MSR makes some pretty good stoves. Unless you can make a fire...then just bring that old cast iron frypan -Packs: Check out Osprey Packs or Gregory. Both great quality and pretty light if that's what you're looking for. Expensive so buy them on sale. Some good packs are offered on steepandcheap.com from time to time. -Bags: (sleeping bags). There are so many out there, just find the right temperature rating and decide between synthetic or goose down (ongoing debate). Just remember, the smaller/lighter you go at a fixed temp. rating, the more you will pay. -If you plan on getting lots of snow, good snowshoes will be a necessity. I'd recommend MSR again http://www.ems.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4085830&cp=3712723.3718184 and a tad lighter but real pricey http://www.ems.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4082823&cp=3712723.3718184 -sleeping pads: sleeping pads? rocks will work.1 point
