What I think Skully fails to reconize that we are avid bowhunters. His rant about a two day youth hunt before opening gun season we supposedly where so opposed against is just a stupid tyrant rant coming out his ass as he has no idea if any one of us were for or against it. So you see Skully maybe you might want to come join a conversation without accusations you have no ideal of what you are talking about. You want us to answer a question that does not exist because again like said about 20 times now. LIsten carefully since you havent already. WE SUPPORT THE YOUTH HUNT!!!!!!!!!! I dont care if its columbus weekedend or any weekend in gun season. Do you get that SKULLY? Is it transparent enough for you yet? Again we are avid bowhunters supporting a youth hunt during bow season or gun. I DID NOT COME UP WITH THE DATES if you have a problem with that, again I suggest you go to the public hearings once in awhile and voice your opinion. I love you armchair critics.2 points

When we moved out here I had a young 20+ year old gal who's Family owned the Pet store I worked in where we use to live...crazy animal lovers...I brought her on a hunt and she then went and got a license..She hunted here at our home and then down at the camp....when she got married my wedding gift to her was a new Mossberg 20ga shot gun Mr.b. refuses to have any thing to do with bow hunting...so when I taught my self and got my license...I got both our daughter and son involved...They took their bow course and hunted ....then took the gun course and still hunt....If grand kids come along...they'll be in the woods with me from the get go.....1 point

Lot of pros & cons regarding fixed vs mechanical. Original selling point of mechanicals was they flew about the same as your practice field points. Now a days, the big draw is the larger cutting diameter mechanicals (Rage) can achieve. Of course, you're talking about a slit (2 blade Rage) as opposed to triangular fixed broadhead wound. Which is better......? Have heard complaints about mechanicals not functioning as advertised or not getting a pass thru on angled shots. Ill stick with my fixed blade and avoid any possible mechanical malfunctions at the moment of truth.1 point

Taking kids along on a hunt is a lot of fun. Yes, they can be noisy....but they can also be amazingly quiet once they get "into the game". I guess if I had the choice of leaving kids home and shooting a really big buck...or spending an unsuccessful day hunting with kids, I'd take the kids. Kids trump game animals any day.1 point

Certainly good advice for those who can take Oct. 25 to November 25 off. My big issue with these "charts" is that most guys use it to determine their 1,2, 3, 4, or 5 days off of work. I'm more likely to take November 5-12 off every year than October, assuming I can at least get out on a weekend or maybe before or after work during that last week in October. You can legit argue that the final OCtober week is primo, but from an odds perspective, more book bucks are taken during that week in November than October. When you only have a few days of vaca, you need to play the odds.1 point

Here's what I don't get. If you have kids and want them hunting with you why wouldn't you take them every chance you had????????? I don't have kids but if I did I know I would want them to experience everything about the woods. Can you hunt all day maybe not but I bet it is a great experience teaching them and then maybe getting a good breakfest at a diner or IHOP. I don't understand why you even need a youth gun season. Take them bow hunting with you then when gun season starts take them gun hunting. I hunt with a good crew in the ADK's and one guy has three sons. They where all brought up the same way and all had the same opportunities to hunt. There father hunts every weekend he can and goes out of state to hunt sometimes. Out of his three sons only one took to it like him and hunts every chance he has. Out of the other two one hunts occasional and the other hardly ever. I only say this because I think all people are different. The sad thing is the society is moving to a point where if there isn't a special day for something people can't and don't do it. Kids don't get out and play enough (its a tech world)and we baby 90% of the society growing up. Just a rant I guess I just don't understand why people need a special day for something they should just want to share with someone so specail to them.1 point

I think there is a natural tendency to be a bit touchy about those who seem to delight in bad-mouthing our country. That generally will put me in a spring-loaded, pissed off condition. However even with all that said, I do think it may not be so bad to keep a critical eye on trends and features that might indicate negative changes in our status and national condition. What sends me into orbit is when I sense people making a sport out of "shock-talk" where they engage in what I would call mindless U.S. bashing, and seem to take some kind of perverse delight in that or try to come off as some phoney, lofty, super-open minded, superior intellect. I can be sent into two directions when it comes to that sort of thing. Hysterical laughter at the pretentiousness or finding myself going off the deep end in anger .... lol. It all depends on how it hits me.1 point

I like the seeking phase....it's during bow and they aren't running full board...nothing more frustrating than siting and watch a parade of buck and doe running in and out around your stand and never slowing down or stopping long enough for a shot...and all I can do is curse the doe under my breath ...telling her to bring him in and then stop running!!1 point

Thats twice that you have basically called people lairs on this thread. With out knowing how long a guy has been hunting, how many different guns he has own, how old he is or how many states he has hunted!! You seem like another one of those internet hero's that sit at a keyboard out there insulting people just trying to stir the pot!! Why don't you just shut your pie hole!!!1 point

I have a story bout such a thing, but it involves squirrels rather than deer... Two fellows were hunting squirrels in the Ozarks..They came around a bend in the trail and met a fellow who was carrying a dozen dead squirrels...He did not have a gun, bow , slingshot or weapon of any type...As they got closer they noticed that the fellow was INCREDIBLY ugly...So ugly he'd have to sneak up on a puddle to get a drink of water... One of the hunters asked " How did you get all them squirrels, Buddy ?" The homely guy said ' I just UGLY 'em to death. I sneak close to 'em and when they get a good look at my face, they just drop over dead.." The hunter asked " Is there anybody else in your family that can do that ? " The ugly guy said " Well, I took my wife squirrel hunting with me a few times but I had to quit bringin' her... She TEARS 'EM UP too bad.."..1 point
