There is a good article in PBS (Professional Bowhunters Society) Magazine this quarter, that talks about how Bowhunters are their own worst enemy, and will be the demise of bow hunting as we know it. If we don't police our own ranks. Sadly, many "bow hunters" and I use the term lightly, do not even think about practicing until a couple of weeks before the season starts. Add to that how many probably never tune their bow to their broad heads, they shoot a couple of field tips, then remove, and slap those broad heads on the shaft without a second thought. There is no place for "CAMO" in public. You don't need to advertise to the bank teller, grocery clerk or anyone else that you are a bow hunter, wear the camo where it belongs, in the woods. No wonder the Anti's hate us, they give a good argument to the non-hunting public. I won't even get into the buffoons on the Outdoor Channel. We have products like: "Maniac", and "Monster", and "Bow Madness" "Dead Down Wind" and "Rage", are we all a bunch of Maniac Monsters in Rage with the animals we hunt, and if we miss we get a case of Bow Madness. This is all ridiculous, bow hunter's and the hunting industry need to wise up, this behavior will not be tolerated forever. Turn on the Outdoor Channel and watch "Lips Like a Maserati - If I Only Had a Brain" Nugent.. Whack em and Stack em, in between Wild Game Violations. And the other idiots over celebrating their kills with High Five's, Laugther and Snickering and enough Happy Dancing and Hip Gyration in Stand that would make Elvis Presley envious, and get you fined if it were the NFL! Sorry, to me traditional bow hunting is a passion, I am ashamed of most bowhunter's today. I am happy to consider myself not one with that crowd.2 points

What I see here is a sucker punch on paying more taxes. Lets think about this shall we. A dude thats really thirsty and wants a 32 oz drink buys a 32 oz drink and gets a 5c bottle tax right? Now the dude has to buy 2 16 oz bottles and get 2-5cent bottle taxes. Now lets cover this all up by saying we will call this trying to help out the fat asses urge to drink lots of soda. What a joke. Ever wonder where the bottle tax goes thats not claimed? This is nothing more than double dipping tax on taking advantage of a sugar addiction. You arent going to stop people from drinking more than 16 oz's of soda only when they have and will drink as much as they damn well want. Is this not AMERICA? This country has gone to complete shit. Once again thank you bastard liberals for your bullshit you inflict on us! To all you libs............. Kiss my white american ass!!!!! Im fed up!1 point

Well here is an update and some personal opinions. River is low, reservor is in sad shape, no rain no water. Temps are high. Salmon are in the river pretty heavy from Pulaski down, with schools starting to hit mid river and upper sections. Fish are stressed, counted 12 salmon floating dead in a about half an hour. Fish are dying from what I can tell from lack of oxygen. There is almost no pressure above pulaski as there are few fishermen up there. Hate to say this but they need to shut the river down or there will be a big loss in spawning fish that make it to the hatchery. Maybe this will wake some people up and stop the kayak water releases all summer long and hold water back for the multi million dollar revenue these fish bring to our local economy.1 point

The only thing hysterical about any of it is that some are actually trying to reason with a flaming liberal using common sense. We all know liberals dont have that capacity.1 point

You know when it comes to guns, I tend to agree with you and Biz-R-O. I don't see anyone taking them away anytime soon. Just way too many in private possession for anyone to ever confiscate them all. But, when it comes to laws such as this, it really takes things to a different level. To me it isn't even about freedom, but about who the hell are they to tell me what type of foods I should eat? I know some foods are better than others, but many will tell you meat causes cancer, is bad for the heart, etc. Should I now not be able to buy some beef or chicken because some bunny huggers don't want us killing cattle or chicken and are influencing the medical profession to keep telling us it's bad for us. How long will it be before the price of beef and chicken is $50 a pound just because they think it's bad for us and they want us to pay more for it if we want it. Come on now. This law is senseless and you guys darned well know it.1 point

It's not the goverment so much as a degradation of personal accountability. Muslim women have to wear a hijab (the robe covering) because by Islamic law, men can not control themselves so it is the fault of the woman for presenting temptation. Let's change the words a little. Business cannot serve sugary drinks over 20 ozs because by Bloomberg's law, people cannot control themselves so it is the fault of businesses to present temptation.1 point

First they came for the socialists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak for me.1 point

Did you ever consider that getting the consumer to pay more will only add to McDonald's or Burger King's profits where more money will be put in research & development to put out even more artery clogging fast food?? People need to LEARN what is good to eat and what isn't. Yeah, it's a big problem in this country, but it all stems from people wanting things the easy way. A lot easier to buy prepared foods than to actually cook it yourself. Women want to work, so there is NO time to cook for the kids. It's all a chain reaction of bad choices society has made here. A stupid law like this won't fix anything.1 point

he moved it...yes stoled the bullets...trespassed and should have done things differently...but armed robbery is just plain BS1 point

I look at it differently in that I think the laws are designed to make hunters take a better look at what they're shooting at before pulling the trigger... if you are not sure, don't shoot... I don't feel it is the laws fault that hunters refuse to take the time to make a proper identification or are unwilling to let a deer walk to make sure the law is not broken. It's become to common place to blame someone other than oneself for failing to do the right thing. Just because you have a gun that can shoot 200 yards, doesn't mean you should be shooting something that you can't identify. The remedy for your senario is not to do away with the law... the remedy would be get a scope if you want to shoot that far or just don't shoot that far. There will be other opportunities. Definitely not worth breaking the law over. I know you meant that there are those out there that will make the "mistake" you discribed... my point is that it is not an accident or a mistake, just plain irresponsibilty. I feel it would happen regardless of AR's and that it has happened before current AR's with the original 3inch law. I seems to be built into some hunters DNA.. regardless of the law.1 point

The best thing I have used on a ground nest is to dump some Sevin over the hole. The bee's get it on themselves when they crawl in and out of the hole and carry it down into the nest. EVERY bee using that nest will be dead in 24-48hrs!1 point

Ahh the Salmon river. I actually live on it. Salmon run is not all that great at this point. First small run we had alot of the salmon died from lack of oxygen once they hit the river towards Pulaski. Had a great rain yesterday so should help out a bit. I salmon fish in waits of opening bow and then Im done. Steelhead is definately the best time on the river. Especially after New Years in the heart of the winter when the fair weather guys all go home. We have had banner steelhead runs for atleast 5 years in a row. Unreal fishing since the 1 fish rule was put in place. Just check the regulations as they seem to change a bit every year.1 point

Yeah , these folks with their Pizza Hut , Walmart , Tractor Supply , etc shirts really tick me off . The nerve of them to be wearing those shirts , especially when they are off duty . ')'>http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/out_text.gif[/img] And what about these jokers that wear shirts with Team logos on them . I don't need someone advertising that they are a Vikings fan . The nerve of them !!! http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/pissed.gif[/img]...http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/pissed.gif[/img]...http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/pissed.gif[/img]1 point

I agree with the language and dimeanor that hunters use...we need to police our selves. I do disagree with the point of not wearing camo though. I am not ashamed of my sport and have no problem with anyone knowing i partake in it. I will have it on after I hunt and go into a restaurant...etc. .....not going to garb up for a trip to the store but I won't change if I am out. I mean heck.....can't be worse than the crotch of you pants at your knees, the crack of your butt hanging out or a baseball hat on sideways...lol1 point
