I was looking through the ads on Craigslist last week when I came upon an add from someone looking for wild Turkey eggs. The add stated that this person would give you money and come out and remove the eggs from the wild Turkey nest. While sitting there thinking of what kind of Tool would actually do this I remembered the DEC's TIPP hotline. I went on the website and e mailed them the listing, not really thinking they would do much about it. Imagine my surprise when I got this e mail back from them today: Mr. Phillips, Thank you for your complaint information ref. the subject attempting to purchase turkey eggs via Craigslist. The add has been removed and the subject was also found to be in possession of illegally possessed wild turkeys. Thanks again, ECO P.S. Joe..Just put up a "DEER CROSSING" sign on the beaver dam. That way you can kill two birds with one stone...<<grin>>....2 points

Yup.. Ol Wille has got to eat too! “We reached the old wolf in time to watch a fierce green fire dying in her eyes. I realized then, and have known ever since, that there was something new to me in those eyes—something known only to her and to the mountain. I was young then, and full of trigger-itch; I thought that because fewer wolves meant more deer, that no wolves would mean hunters' paradise. But after seeing the green fire die, I sensed that neither the wolf nor the mountain agreed with such a view.” – Aldo Leopold2 points

Only had trail cams for ~6-7 years, but don't recall seeing one so developed by the end of May. Typically they only have gnarly stubs with the ocassional 4pt growth.1 point

Good deal - I guess this gives a whole new meaning to the term "poached eggs".1 point

i have an old boyscout planted abandon christmas tree farm on my property. Coolest thing in the woods. All sorts of neat criters and great deer traffic. Some areas have had multiple pines fall letting in light and creating nice growth and I wouldn't recommend touching it at all. These areas seem to do great when left undisturbed. I would recommend you check all your runs near your stands. We have to hack up 2 or 3 fallen pines a year to keep the runs clear.1 point

Had a really productive weekend. We brush hog all trails and began to reclaim some of the old apple trees. The previous owner let the property go for years and the areas around the apple trees have become over grown. I got the brush hog in there and hope to clean up around more of the trees later this summer. We also planted some corn and tilled two more plots which we will plant later this summer. Even got a chance to smoke some ribs. Couldn't be happier!! Well maybe with some rain.1 point

Good move on the apple trees, & the perogies. Sat. at camp seemed to be a good day for plot work. Expanding plots, a pick axe & sludge take out a few old stumps. The tiller will still have it's work cut out for it with the ground I'm working with.1 point

Hi and welcome. I was in your shoes about 3 years ago. I just went out there the first year and started walking into whatever public land I could find, which is A TON. Then I realized I really needed to narrow it down better. I picked up Dan Ladd's book and it has very valuable info on all public lands up there to hunt. The book does not exactly point you to where to shoot a deer but it shows you where you can go on a map and describes the areas lol. I've been trying to arrow a deer out there for 3 seasons now, very tough hunting. Hope this book helps you! Shot in the arm ..... That's probably a good trade-off rather than sitting and watching the guy get eaten alive by the bear waiting for the perfect shot .... lol.1 point

What does a picture of your depth finder screen have to do with your deer season! It does look like a real lunker in there! Congrats Elmo!1 point

I'm sure your only KIDing Elmo........... Congrats on the pending arrival of your baby! First one? My daughter was born November 13th. I was there for EVERYTHING. But...........after my wife and daughter were discharged, I barely slowed the truck down as I left them off at the curb and beat feet for camp. Killed a real nice 9pt a couple days later.1 point

I've only got one squirrel mount done so far. I happend to take this guy and his gal on the same hunt. He scored an amazing 15 3/8" (11 1/8 on the tail and 4 2/8 on the ears). The best part is his gal is just barely under him...in measurements...and uhh, yeah. Hoping to do something a little more exotic with my next one.1 point

In my defense, I almost never eat the stuff but I was pressed for time and it was the closest place. One small R.B. sandwich and a diet lemon aide. Thanks for caring and excellent point !1 point
