  1. I shot a 6 pt chasing a doe. Not ideal but I figured as the season went it was the right thing. Nephew shot his first buck a two point! lol We took them to the processor tonight man there are some real nice bucks in there. Oh and I shot a big button buck last hour of bow season.

  2. I was in A double ladder stand . I saw 2 bucks coming from the neighbor's North property . A bunch of saplings block any shot But I Had the scope on in the bigger buck as it was walking along . i expected to take a shoulder shot but there was a dip in the ground . when it hit the opening , I shot and it dropped on the spot . upon further review , i shot him in the neck as he was in the dip . No meat wasted . some time you just get lucky . It was only about a 90 yard with the NEF 20-06 single shot . Here is the buck laying . I zoomed in on it as best I could with the phone camera .You can see the deer laying in the middle of the picture between the 2 big trees .The entrance Hole was hard to spot But not the exit hole .

  3. I have 2 different stand locations. The first one about legal dark it is too dark to make out a legal deer so I wouldn't take the shot. In my second stand, higher up on a mountain, I can see clearly 1/2 hour after. Know your limits and your targets. Sent from my SM-S906U using Tapatalk

  4. Personally I would have no problem getting in there and clipping some of those obstacles, just clip them and let them lay and leave. Al

  8. Gray squirrels, red squirrels, owl and fisher, is the extent of it so far this morning. A few distant shots otherwise dead quiet. If nothing happens here in a little bit I may just go back to the house and “kill” a cup of coffee. Lol

  13. Prune away! I passed on last nights sit in order to prune, chainsaw, and rip down all the annoying obstacles in my way that emerged from the heavy winds. I figured it was better to lose a nights sit than lose to my mind watching deer walk past with the same things blocking me. Even worse would be to have them affect my shot, and end up wounding a then unrecoverable deer.

  14. Put a cam on my front lawn, this bunny is not playing around. He’ll stare down any deer. We call him Rip from Yellowstone.

  15. Many times I carry a small folding saw and a set of compact brush shears in a belt pack, especially early in the season when there are a lot of leaves. I move around a lot and am constantly pruning limbs and branches when I set up to give me clear sighting. Al

  16. Speaking as someone who has likely struck things on two of my last 3 shots deer this year, and missed them clean as a result, I say cut them branches asap.

  17. My friend has a swamp on his property and he bought the property because of that and he duck hunts . He goes out with his gas powered leaf blower and clears a path to his 'shooting chair' . He sometimes see deer checking out the noise .

  19. Bumped 7 deer on the way out yesterday morning feeding in the moon light. Front blind sit for 3 hours ,nothing. The afternoon sits was more eventful with deer in the pumpkins, and the clover. No bucks. This morning sit involved raking leaves and cracking sticks getting into the woods with my feet. Ten minutes into the sit, deer start showing up feeding on green leaves on the bushes. Had a 6 point come in with tree branch antlers very close. Looked like an antlered doe.
