Yikes, that's not good. What did the wound channel look like from your rifle shot or did the 357 round just make a mess of all of it. Surprised you got an exit wound through a shoulder from a pistol round unless they were solids.

what's your special formula for lay scents down? Let's get a thread ripping on a hot Saturday! What do you, and don't you like and why? There is a lot of trash out there for sure. I'd like to hear what folks think of different products/methods. I can tell you what's been good for me over the last few years. I find Nose Jammer around my stand as I'm getting in does a good job blocking everything that stinks of human. I've had deer lay on ferns I've sprayed on it an hour earlier. That said I use that to cover my scent up. 20 yards out in front of that I'll use a time of the season specific. I like the off brand stuff that folks don't use a lot of. James Valley makes great stuff, Wall Hanger, Full Draw or Wow have all got deer to me. For sure less is more with concentrated stuff. I've messed around with the Nose Jammer and the Conquest Ever Calm at times. That seem stop work well too. Short of that outer wear get washed in Dead Down Wind (let's hear it for NY Company)! And boots and coats/bibs are always sprayed with Primos or some other that is earth scented. Anyways, whats your secret deer hunting voodoo?

I think they all run a cheaper line (Fed Power Shock. Rem Core Lock. Win Power Points). As far as the major producers go. I've seen squib loads from Hornady. Had misfires in Core Locks. Jacket Separation in the same. And soft jacketed Fusions from Federal that made the inside of my barrel look like stripped copper wire. I even posted about that. I've seen very good performance from the Winchester Ballistic Silvertip Line (Black Box) in 270 WSM and 30-06. Anyways I bought a bunch of boxes of this stuff. I'll let you know how it works for me. Its not the laws or abundance of them,.... its a gangster culture that we have going on here. There are likely just as many guns in the US per capita now as there was when I was growing up. Difference is now (IMO) that we are culturally desensitized to violence. I think this has a lot to do with it,... blame the movies, the video games, IDK. How about people being responsible for each other and saying something as things go astray. Very few people wake up on a random Tuesday and mass murder a school. You can't tell me that someone wasn't being an ostrich while the warning lights were going off! So how is that NYS I feel very unSAFE Act working. Why not ask Cuomo's buddy who was offed at the West Indian Parade last year by a gang banger with a gun. But hell more laws,.... layer them on.

There is public land and of course it is over regulated. But if you can't shoot a deer with a bow on LI,.... you can't shoot a deer!

We got a lot of cougars on LI,... mostly prowl bars at night looking for young bucks. But lions, we'll that will be one hell of a s*@t show in the woods. The Empire States can't figure out if they want us to shoot feral hogs when we see them.... What kind of a mess will this become if it ever comes to pass (which I severely doubt).
