  1. 444 Marlin is the ultimate brush buster. IMO
  2. I never felt the Vortex I put on Dad's old 7400 30-06 was the right glass for that gun. I always would have rather had that one on a Browning A-Bolt with the BDC and all. So I took advantage of a great deal from Cabels on a Leupold VX1 3-9 regular duplex. My plan tonight was when I got home from work to move the glass around. Well I'm happy I did because when I started to undue the front scope ring on the 7400 the base plate of the ring fell apart. A Weaver Grand Slam ring! It must have had a hairline crack in it and literally the only thing holding it together was the compression of the screws above it. I had an extra set of Leopold Rifleman rings that fit so I used those when I mounted and bore sighted the Leupold. That was a strange way to find that out. My guess it would have just fallen apart at the range anyway. But you never know.
  3. got my H size three pack of Nocturnals. They are about 9 grs heavier than my regular Easton nocks. So what do you think about using my reloading scale and some string wax to fill the inside of the Easton nocks up with 9 grs of wax. This way I'm not using the nocturnals for practice (except for maybe just one of the three) and my arrow weight is identical. Or do most of you find the 9 extra grains in the tail end of the arrow doesn't really effect flight?
  4. cops can't carry during bow season but are expected to all year round state wide regardless.....
  5. I can swear I had the thing shooting about an 1.25" last season. This year not so much. Gonna give it another shot using a different rest and I will run 150's through it this time, let's see what it does.
  6. I hear that they are getting better, but still far from what they were.
  7. Took the 7600 to the range today, was everywhere but where i wanted to be. Thankfully I brought a bolt action 30-06 also, so I was able to redeem myself. A friend told me I should only own bolt actions,..... I'm starting to agree.
  8. I use stix when I'm shooting out of blind. I've had the same set for 10 years. They work well and take a lot of abuse. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. They would only investigate a complaint that you are infringing within the 150' rule and have you leave. Maybe ticket you if you are in violation. The same would apply on public lands that come close to this setback. Someone wants to knock on every door of adjoining parcels more power to you. The villages I hunt in only require written permission from the hosting land owner. The 150' setback is a burden on the hunter and they are probably the most restrictive villages in the county. 10. question now is do I switch the out for Lumanocks or stick with the Nocturnals?
  11. can't believe I order three of them in the wrong size. I ordered size S, I need H (400) for Easton Nemesis. Guess these are going back. UGH.....!!!
  12. That's some big medicine for deer....
  13. Both of my A-Bolts will do under an inch. I think they are terrific mountain rifles.
  14. Excellent idea. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Looks like ants nested in my one of my cameras. Got in through the card slot and ate through the electronics the seals on the lens. I sent it back to the Moultrie. They replaced it under warranty (they are awesome). I've never had that before, I opened the camera box and there had to be thousands of them on the camera crawling around.
  16. Who makes you get waivers from any other land owner than those who's land your hunting? I hunt some private lands in Suffolk and I only need permission from the land owner who's property you are hunting. If I have to get a deer off another person's land I have to get permission. But that is no different than anywhere else.
  17. Anyone use Nocturnals? I bought a three pack, I know a lot of guys like them. They are about 7 grs heavier on the butt end of the arrow. Any changes arrow performance. My hunting arrow is 400 grs (complete) and I shoot around 290 fps. With the Nocturnal I would expect them to be about 405 to 410 grs. The advantages seem great for low light thick cover situations.
  18. gotta be able to do standing sitting from a tree stand and even twisted around the truck if possible. Practice all three.
