One time at band camp...... (JK). It wasn't a mishap just some rushed pilot error, but could have been horrible. I was day one in rifle camp, it was mid afternoon and I wanted to swap camera cards out in a hurry. I took my 444 with me because.... well because it was deer season and I did. Turns out on on my way up this hillside and on the edge, I jump a nice sized buck. He gets on the hoof and he's moving but not hauling a$$. I raised my rifle, cock the hammer and push the safety off. The deer is bobbing in and out of a timer edge,... no shot. Figuring not to spook him too much and assuming that he'd probably slow down and not spook off property, I went about my business of getting back to my camera card swap. Threw the 444 Marlin on my shoulder and made my way up the hillside. I get up the spot where the camera is, set down my rifle and happen to glance over at the rifle, I had carried this thing for the last 1/4 mile on my shoulder, barrel up, loaded, cocked and safety off, muzzle next to my head..... To make matters worse, one of our guys doing the same thing on the opposite side of the ridge about 20 minutes later zapped my buck. The good news is I had about 30 pics of him on that camera!!!!! Stupid is as stupid does. The good news is, now I take my semi-auto when I check my cameras....

Howdy fellas, happy Lords Day! Any of you know about hunting on Stewart AFB or Stewart Air Port property? I knew some guys in the past who did and they arrowed some nice bucks in there. I just don't know much about access. Any info would be much appreciated.

considered baiting and we can't bait or feed deer in NY. That said, it is a highly effective method of control and I don't understand why the DEC is so dead set against it. There was some suggestion that it can contribute to CWD but there are plenty of states whose biologists allow it and there is no more or less a problem in those states due to baiting/use of minerals. Let's be truthful, they are a fairly communal animal how they travel and bed, CWD would happen regardless if a hunter baited or not.

I feel better knowing I rifle can cut the same hole even if I can't.

My AR (20" Wilson Bull BBL) shoots dime size 5 rd groups at 100 and half dollar size at 200. Its' a horse of a totally different color. For what the BAR set me back, approaching 2" at 100 just doesn't make me fell alright with it. Honestly my old 7400 is doing .5" better than that.

I am really doubting owning it. Seems like they just can't be an inch no matter what I do. Six, but I'll prob sell it. The glass is great and I will hang onto that for sure.

while the shooting is tragic and horrible for the victims and their family here is my guarantee the shooter is nuts and a product of either a theorist agenda or legit mentally ill and mis managed. The gun was probably attained under legitimate circumstances and that is what will be an issue here. Just guesses.

Gun free zones are nothing more then buckets of bass for cowards. If there was a respectable doubt that someone can shoot back these bastards would be shooting them up. The Dark Knight in Aurora picked a theatre that was Gun Free, passing up other theaters that were more populated by were not gun free,.... coincidence???? Its almost like there is an agenda, not to sound crazy, that is allowing these things to happen with greater frequency. I know its a copy cat, but its putting us under scrutiny for nothing we've done or will ever do. So I guess equal protection under the law will only apply to the lawless and the agenda victims.
