  1. Thermal scope on a .22 works wonders and is a whole lotta fun too.
  2. I close the windows when I'm not in the blind and have shot deer point blank range days into the season. I wear black headgear to match the dark background of the blind. Since I use my blinds as winter refuge while coyote hunting, I cut a tree branch or a use a tripod with a thick piece of cardboard or vinyl on top as a middle support in case it snows so the blind doesn't collapse. Adding some scentless mineral oil to the zippers of the windows and door will keep them free from ice and snow, and a lot quieter when opening them on cold mornings.
  3. I used to favor wool until I found out I was allergic to it. My neck would be red and raw by the end of opening day. Been using thermal layers with fleece and a thin jacket since getting a warm bag(Now out of business) over a decade ago. No sweating while walking to the tree stand or blind and then putting the heavy layers on after climbing in a tree or blind only to have my toes freeze an hour later. Tried the heater body suit and it was too big and noisy, and my feet still froze. I sit in my stands till the cows come home in total comfort. The only thing that sucks is that I have to get out of it ! They make half bags with suspenders now to keep your feet and legs warm, but they don't compare to the warm bag. It's alien technology and I hope the men in black don't come and confiscate mine or I'll give up deer hunting ! SJC
  4. I've been using a 10% mixture of Permethrin to treat my predator and deer hunting clothes for a long time and have no issues with coyote or deer scenting me any more than usual. If I was busted more than usual I wouldn't be treating my clothes with it. It's also the best tick repellant/killer out there, so it's a win win. SJC SJC
  5. I re barreled a friends Impulse Predator in 22-250 and he topped it with a New Pulsar Thermion XP50 LRF for long range shooting, so it only makes sense that while walking to our first stand last night he dropped this small male dog at 20 yards !
  6. Anyone who tries to defend the cluster F the Biden administration is causing in the states and around the world has no seat at my table. No one can be that stupid to create what's happening at the border's and around the globe, so it has to be intentionally done and that's unforgiveable. The really sad part is that most of the Democrat voters are ok with it and think America is on the right track. It's like living in an episode of the Twilight zone. SJC
  7. Nice rifle, but a 1x5 Scope on a 6.5 ? SJC
  8. Got the replacement Halo X50 back into service and although the picture resolution sucks on this scope and it's going back to the factory for that issue, it's accurate enough to drop yotes. My backup thermal on the 20-250 Impulse Predator is an AGM Adder TS35-384. 39 lb Male https://youtu.be/sjJHu79zdok
  9. If you have any type of mechanical ability and have the right size punch, it's a very simple job to replace it. SJC
  10. Since you've owned it so long, I'm guessing it's the one I linked for pre 1980 models. I would also get the pin and spring. https://www.gunpartscorp.com/products/1156220 https://www.gunpartscorp.com/products/412340 https://www.gunpartscorp.com/products/412350 SJC
  11. Dog down 10 8 Pm. Took the week off to coyote hunt and ended the week taking down a dog that was chasing the landowner last week while he was checking trail cameras. While we were heading out to the stand location after sundown, we noticed two dogs flanking us. They made their move and closed the gap pretty quickly once we got into a field. I was ready and dropped the lead dog. 46 lb Male
  12. Double down 10/7 Pm. Male and female. Savage Impulse Predators strike again. .20-250 and .243 I hit the female first and then my buddy dropped the male going through the woods after I stopped recording.
  13. The season started off slow, but we dropped two dogs in the limited time we had to hunt before the fog rolled in. Both healthy females, 30+ pounds.
  14. Nice rifle. Not bad for a righty shooter. SJC
  15. Decided to eliminate some pests before taking the backup thermal off the .177 and putting it on the 20-250 for the Oct 1st Varmint season. https://youtu.be/zLcYHE-SvB4 https://youtu.be/MVEKAVIUm58
  16. If you have electric available, this beats doing it by hand any day of the week, or get a 12v winch for more portability. Hoist
  17. Three more bite the dust in one evening. This one paid his friend a visit and went to mouse heaven. This poor mouse thought it was going to sneak on by. Silly mouse, leaves aren't pelletproof.
  18. When the other site started, this site became tolerable again. Now your back causing trouble and slinging mud. Did you get tired of reading about what others had for dinner or what cigar they smoked that night ? Don't let door hit you where the lord split you. SJC
  19. Why post what's already known and make others sad too ? It was just a given that NY and the other blue bastions of regressive lefty lib run states were going to go to shit, but after warning other states of the impending doom and them laughing at us while lefty's are getting a foothold to ruin those states too, it's like the whole country is going to shit now and I have nowhere to go to die in peace. They stopped teaching and are rewriting history for a reason, as those who don't learn from it are doomed to repeat it.
  20. Their eye's opened last weekend, so we're going to take a ride to meet him soon. The mother is a tri color roan, so I'm hoping he gets a little roan coloring as he gets older.
  21. It's been almost three years since we had to put the last of our three dogs down. When I was told by my Brittany breeder friend that he has a litter of puppies that were born on my late mothers birthday, it was a done deal. Liver/White male, two weeks old. Yankee Bean II
  22. We cut and teddered several hay fields last weekend and usually would see a few chucks wandering about afterwards to pop, but not this time. With all of the coyote eradication we do in the area, it was surprising that we didn't find a fresh chuck hole in a field. SJC
  23. You need to mount a thermal scope on that baby and start hunting mice before the state bans mouse hunting !
  24. Two more down, this time I remembered to hit the record button.
