The good Lord was with you in shooting a deer in the Keister, LMAO!!

Is it possible the skunks are responsible?

I looked into a propane conversion on my Generac 7500 but consumption rate on propane is huge. It would cost way more than gasoline. Only advantage would be to have a huge submarine sized propane tank that would keep you going in a shit hit the fan scenario where gasoline becomes unavailable

What I'm getting at is what's wrong with pulling your weapon on someone to deescalate a situation without shooting. I've seen numerous videos where someone pulled their weapon and the attacker turned and walked. I would much rather change someone's mind than splatter it with a gunshot. If there are any legal ramifications for brandishing I'm sure I'd rather deal with that than civil suits that will cost me everything for killing someone. I've been told I'm wrong but have never heard a good argument on the kill first pay later plan that instructors seem to like.

Vaccination
Gobbler Chaser replied to johnplav's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
It's the amount of unvaxed people that are overwhelming emergency rooms that causes the problem. When you have a stroke because someone insulted you Cheeto Messiah and go to the ER and every medical professional in the place is busy as hell keeping people breathing ,good luck -
Vaccination
Gobbler Chaser replied to johnplav's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Yup and because she's vaccinated she'll be fine -
My question is God forbid you ever have to make that decision on whether or not to use deadly Force. My big question is, it seems that many defense instructors are inclined to tell you to keep your weapon concealed until the last possible moment then pull your weapon and don't hesitate to empty your gun at center mass? Any thoughts on this strategy?

When considering a 400gr arrow moving at 280fps with only a couple hundred ft lbs of force can kill just about any mammal it just might be. But if you have a large mean African mammal charging you then yes knockdown and mucho ft lbs might be something you might want. Same as handgun defense ammo and bullet weight needed to stop an attacker charging you with say a knife. 240 grns of .45 acp is something to be desired in a situation like that I'd bet

I've always been one to believe in Darwin's theory of natural selection. Let them have it. I hear Ultra Violet light inserted rectally has been an astounding success too, LMAO!!

I butcher them right where they fall in the woods. One slice thru the skin right down the back. Peel the skin down and remove the shoulders first and then remove the straps. Then roll the deer on it's back and remove one hindquarter at a time. I Go home get the ATV and load the hindquarters in a milk crate that's bungied to my quad then throw the straps in a bag and throw them in there also. Takes exactly 20 mins. When I get to the barn I hang the quarters and detail butcher them in my spare time, usually let them hang for a week. I have no use for anything below the straps. Don't eat shoulder meat. I used to spend untold hours moving and processing deer in my barn, then carting skin, bones, heads, waste meat back to the woods. Now I go gutless and love it. On state land I tie the quarters at the tendons and put the straps into my pack and hike out dragging only the straps in a contractors plastic bag to keep the dirt off em. Simple, Easy

Ok guys what are you using to hunt deer this year
Gobbler Chaser replied to rob-c's topic in Deer Hunting
My 23yr old Excal Exomag. Thing is a deer killing machine. I pull it of it's hanger a week before bow season, fire five shots and I'm ready to roll. I know I just frosted some vertically aligned balls with that statement but hey, I nail one or two every yr with that Xbox -
Yep keep drinking, I'm sure your going to be tickled pink with our new Gov, LMAO

Ouch! They get you so fast sometimes. By the time you see them on you it's too late -
I grew up as a kid on 1970s Long Island and during that period there was a huge resurgence or increase of hunting. Stores like Leslie Edelman off rt 110 in Farmingdale opened and created alot of interest in hunting with smart marketing and full page ads in NewsDay news paper. Frank Defalco doing seminars at local VFWs. That's when hunting transitioned to blaze orange, almost everyone went to atleast a 4X scope or more, Sorel Rubber bottom boots became a thing and that pull out liner was considered space age. Before that it was Wool hunter red plaid, matching hat, scopes were for pussies, and leaky leather boots is what you wore. I know of dozens of guys at the time who joined the forces in the 70s who've dropped out a long, long time ago never to hunt again. Then it all went to the big Skiing Fad of the 80s

I have one almost that size that I removed years ago in the fall and have it hanging from a beam in my garage. I have three of them hanging on display. -
From a logistics viewpoint I can't imagine how these things worked. To displace the amount of water for a box big enough for two hunters you'd need a huge amount of iron to anchor it, and you'd need at least 4 of them. You'd need one on each bottom corner of the box and they'd have to have those anchor lines scoped out at angles in hope of getting any type of stability. If one hunter moved or was much heavier than his buddy the shift in weight could cause it to take on water and with that amount of displacement it would sink in seconds possibly going keel up and trapping a hunter in the process. It doesn't look like something you could set up at 3am in darkness to be ready for morning light. Then, how the fugg do you get into the thing. You'd need someone to bring you by boat and hope you didn't swamp it getting in or from the wake of the boat as it left. Doesn't look like something you could leave out or set up the day before. You might come out in the morning darkness to find it's not even on the surface anymore. Not sure about this one.

Yea what swamp said. Take a bowhunter safety course. They are entertaining and you could learn a thing or two. Alot of fun -
Yep, I remember when every little state Rd motel was booked one end to the other and all you saw was blaze orange. The local gin mills were packed with hunters at night many hoping to score on the local women, lol. Diners were packed with hunters every morning. Now it seems like hunting season doesn't even happen. Young people just don't seem to have a desire for it
