  1. Upwind if they only see a little movement i try that too. Also downwind doesn't mean she can smell you. Thermals climb into the air and often times your smell rises with it. I do hate calling from a tree because deer are good at locating it and also there are no ground noise in your calling. I like to call from the ground rough up leaves break sticks but its tough to hide with a bow. Sometimes the deer come in as your climbing. Its a crapshoot!
  2. Make the move. Stay downwind and chase them. Still hunt while grunting and bleating from downwind. Take it to the streets.
  3. I never killed a deer with a spine shot..... 1 minute later with the second arrow is usually the best I can do. Its not pretty, it happens. I guess if nothing else its an easy track job.
  4. I'm hoping the trick is a weather change. Tomorrow is rain hopefully they like it better then these beach town vacation temperatures. Unfortunately alot of the breeding is happening at night right now. I cant stay away but I feel less likely to see movement then a normal 2nd week of November
  5. Thats a bum move. I hope your season is full of ehd does
  6. Mine is a regular bolt head so I carry a ratchet and socket
  7. That brush is bedding.... walking through it is bad idea. Sometimes the bedding is only on certain winds.
  8. Rattle and call or relocate. It was so loud I bailed on my original spot in the hardwoods now I'm set up 30yds off the road, in a spot I always said I would try. Great funnel on one end of my lease.... just don't love the road.
  9. I did orange bottle. Followed directions on bottle.
  10. 6ish, I will sit til at least 10am if no movement ill shut it down. May be evening sits however this warm weather is discouraging.
  11. I used to sell my hides to the processor. If I dont stack em' up and get behind on my work I'm planning on tanning all of my healthy hides. It was some work and elbow grease but after about 6 or 8 hours over the course of a week or so here it is. Still needs a little breaking in.
  12. Your a little personally involved. Rise above the nonsense. How about search for the answers instead of wasting time getting unregulated at forum heros? I dont know the sciences behind it. Keep it cold and dry for a couple weeks if possible. It will taste better.
  13. Take your time. Draw, Set anchor, pepe bubble level, pepe pin, double check it all agian and loose. Your gonna wound one once in a while, having a tracking dog could help but mostly stay calm wait it out after the shot for plenty of time. Dont push the envelope unless you have lots of good blood. Dont be to hard on yourself. Practice year round. Have fun!!!!!
  14. He doesn't know its a human.... he does know deer don't fight in trees. Also I feel like I need many options including the ground. However in many situations its hard to kill a buck on the ground.
  15. I'm not sure on the science, I have seen them walk into the woods and look exactly where I'm rattling from. Been busted at 200yds moving for sure, also have snuck up behind them into bow range. I agree with everyone. Yes probably.
  16. Chainsaw file works. Little course but seems good. May use the blade up.faster
  17. Nature uses all the parts we don't. Dont leave.good stuff in the woods. Leave all the rest. Gutless method is totally legal.the ethics fall on what you pack out. If.your hundreds of yards from civilization its a great place to leave your waste for nature to return to the cycle of life. Make sure you bring out proof of sex on one quarter and antlers. Many guys use four wheelers and have cut trails.
