I caught the last 3 innings. These guys are on fire!

Here's an interesting article I came across while looking at this stuff. "The Mighty Midgets". https://web.archive.org/web/20080210044526/http://www.gunhuntermag.com/features/051018Midgets.htm#

Cardinals on an 11 game streak!

Good on F&S for posting the emails back and forth to support them. I still don't know that they did due diligence on having things verified before they shared the story, I guess they wanted to be the first. Still, the truth came to light, and like you said, the guy screaming "fake news" to try to play victim is a shame. Good thing it isn't going to fly with the supporting information that F&S has.

That call to load the bases before the last batter was ballsy. It was the right call, but after the season we've had, I was just waiting for them to lose it. It was exciting.

Last night was a fun game to watch, right down to the wire...

For anyone following this, here's the latest updates on the Derek Settle. I'm just glad it got figured out and this guy is infamous rather than famous. https://www.fieldandstream.com/hunting/new-evidence-derek-settle-buck-story/

Red Birds on a 10 game streak now!

If it’s like my 760, taking the trigger group is easy, and just as you described. Maybe once he gets into it he can see what the issue is. Could be something major, but could be as simple as a dirty trigger group and some crud not allowing for a piece to disengage. Spray the trigger group with parts cleaner and clean it well.

Those would make some dandy knife handles.

If that's actually where he went. His family could just be giving the police the ole "He went that way -->".
-
Hi family said he loaded a backpack and headed into a big nature preserve in FL. Supposedly they are looking for him there. Doesn't sound like the family is being too cooperative either.

Awesome, glad you found some. How much were they getting for it, if I can ask?

A lot of you know that I work with 4-H Youth Development. My Executive Director and I are wanting to pilot a trail cam program for our youth, and I'm looking for suggestions for cameras that are easy to set up, take quality photos, and are easy to retrieve. Now, that wish list obviously isn't exclusive to what we are looking for as I doubt anyone is looking for something that is difficult to set up, takes crap photos that you can't access We're planning on purchasing 4 cameras for this program, and are going to start with them ourselves. I'm going to take a couple, and he's going to take a couple. The way I figure is that if he can work them, our youth shouldn't have much issue We're ideally looking for something with cellular capabilities, we'll create a 4-H account on whatever program is needed and then give access to that account to the youth that check them out. The goal of the program is to support our Hunting/Wildlife programming by having youth create logs/journals of animal activity. It can be as simple as setting one up at their backyard birdfeeder, or placing one in the woods. Any suggestions/advice would be appreciated. As an added ask, if you have any photos from a suggested camera, would you mind sending them my way? I told him I would try to get some samples to show him. Thanks!

Glad you’re making a recovery, but that’s scary. Thanks for sharing.

I don't think so. The Derek Settle story looks to be crap. Apparently he killed it in Indiana a whole 2 days before he killed it at home in Kentucky. https://www.facebook.com/patokariverwhitetails

That Editors Note certainly raises some suspicions. I just don't get why people lie about that stuff. A few years back, in Illinois, a guy shot a big albino buck (illegal). The guy cut the skull plate off, and started showing it around as his monster buck, but no pictures of him with the carcass ever surfaced. However, that buck was well know in the Dogtown area (even nicknamed "Show Boat") and many people had pictures of him on the hoof. I don't want to call him tame, but more "photogenic" and you could drive out and see him and all kinds of other deer around Dogtown Hill when the river was up. The guy got in trouble, I don't remember what exactly. For some reason I'm thinking he was a State Trooper as well. Anyways, what is the point of taking a trophy if you can't be proud of it? EDITOR’S NOTE: When the photos of this deer were first sent to us by the hunter, Derek Settle, our immediate gut check was: This is a high-fence deer. Before we interviewed Settle, we confirmed with Kentucky Fish and Wildlife that the buck had been checked in as being killed and tagged in Kentucky on telecheck. (High fence deer in Kentucky do not have to be checked in.) After our interview with Settle, we were confident that his story was true. However, after now reading Facebook comments and seeing photos of his deer that were posted on the page of an Indiana deer preserve, one thing is clear: Someone is not telling the truth. We are investigating this story and will update you as we learn more.

Have all the squirrels died of Covid?
Splitear replied to Slickfins's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Nice. I certainly wouldn't pitch the other meat, I usually split out the back legs, torso, and front legs. The only way I've ever had it is in chowder (for the old squirrels) and the best is breaded with flour, salt and pepper, fried, and then use the pan drippings to make some of the best white gravy in the world. -
Have all the squirrels died of Covid?
Splitear replied to Slickfins's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
I went out last Sunday. I saw several, but they were all high in the tree tops and moving fast. I saw a couple on the ground as well. I was out with my open sights .22 with shorts, so I never got a good shot at any. -
How has the US become so divided?
Splitear replied to Grouse's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
It hasn't been that long ago I was swayed by the idea that people who didn't agree with me were my enemy. It was wrong, and I was wrong for believing it. -

All the .300 Savage I’m seeing in stores is $50-60 a box. I’ve got enough to last a while fortunately. Any 16 and 20 is getting bought within hours in my area.

Forgot to post about this, but I was in Smitty's Trapping Supplies in Schaghticoke a little while back, and they had quite a bit of rifle ammo. Priced high, but a variety of stuff. Not much in the way of shotgun ammo though.
