Okay, it's official - Whitetail Mgmt implemented
wdswtr replied to nyslowhand's topic in Deer Hunting
My thoughts exactly. Did we not just see this same type scenario last year with the crossbow bill. It had to be corrected like 3 times if I remember right because it was worded wrong and push through at the last minute. Would of thought the learning curve was over and more attention would have been practiced. The youth hunt was the biggest bitch about ruining the early bow season from that orginazation. Hows that saying go? Screw me once shame on you screw me twice shame on me. -
2012 NY Hunting Season Rule Changes
wdswtr replied to HuntingNY's topic in NYS DEC News and Annoucements
You keep saying this and I just dont get why? What is your reasoning behind crossbows for smallgame? I dont recall a vertical bow being mandated in the fashion you are saying why would it be any different for a crossbow? So now we should backtrack and stick crossbows in with small game and not for big game? Sorry but Im lost on this tactic. I think the first attempt to get crossbows implemented in the gun season was a wise way to go, especially using it to evaluate how it panned out. What I think they are doing wrong is not giving the crossbow enough time in NY for the comfort factor to set in before they try to make the change. Too much too fast. Stick with the regular agenda of opening the door till 2014 and then re-approach it for bow season at that time. I agree though as far as the approach has been taken. The days of the squeeky wheel get the oil first are over. The squeeky wheel these days gets thrown out and replaced by another one. Whatever happend to patience in this country anyways? -
The Expanded Antler Restrictions - Who is excited?
wdswtr replied to TheHunter's topic in Deer Hunting
I do not hunt in any off the AR units, my only concern is I think some brown and down hunters will seek other places with better odds of harvesting whatever passes by. Which is well within there right if done so legally. Just a bummer seeing deer you let walk all bow season that have potential to become quite impressive and able to carry on there gene pool for more years stuffed in the back of a mini van on opening day. -

My guess is because the people who are writing this stuff have no idea what the heck they are writing to begin with. My guess is they have never even touched a bow let alone seen on in person. Probably are even hunters to begin with, but hey thats just a guess. They are trying to speak a language they have no idea how to speak so we understand. Now Im confused again lol. We have a firearms youth hunt, it says during that time a youth can use a bow as well. No where did I read an adult can still bowhunt yet, someone asked and got yes replies. Anyone care to point out where it is stated an adult can still bowhunt during the special firearm youth hunt. -
Totally understood your point, but my point was I thought bow was a legal implement to use during any season speciall or not. Hence the reason for the reply. But like I said in the last post I stand corrected about what I thought was actually wrong. Sure glad I looked anyhow and now know it is illegal during muzzlelader season only. Amazes me how DEC expects everyone to be up to date on all the darn laws to begin with. Crazy there are so darn many of them and with constant chages I can see how easily it is to get confused these days.
-
Im confused. A bow is a legal implement to use in any season. Oh boy Bubba I stand corrected. Am I the only one who thought this? Here is a section of DEC website. Muzzleloading Deer - may only be taken as shown on the Muzzleloading Deer Map Bear - may only be taken as shown on the Bear Hunting Map. All hunters participating in the muzzleloading season must follow these requirements in addition to the other regulations in this guide. Each resident hunter must have purchased a current year Muzzleloading privilege with his/her big game license. Each nonresident hunter must have a current year Muzzleloading License. The legal firearm for this season is a muzzleloading rifle or pistol (including smoothbore muzzleloaders) loaded through the muzzle, shooting a single projectile and having a bore of .44 inches or larger. Double-barreled muzzleloaders and percussion cap revolvers are not legal during the special muzzleloading season. If you hunt with a single-shot muzzleloading pistol, you must have a New York State Pistol License. Hunters shall not have in their possession, or be accompanied by a person who has in his or her possession, a bow or firearm other than the legal muzzleloading firearm. You may use fiber-optic sights or scopes on a muzzleloading firearm at any time.

Wonder if this will hold up the normal August 16 license and doe management permit sales. Times getting close. Very close! But not close enough!
-
How so? Even if the dates John posted are correct a bow is still a legal implement to use during the whole season. So if any one cries about it they been crying about it for years.

I wish I could remember the name of this stuff. I googled all over and came up blank. One foodplot I did the area was covered with this stuff. I tried to kill the stuff a few times and ended up using the loader on the tractor and scraping of the moss and a few inches of soil. Then I turned the whole thing over with a bottom plow. This was a few years ago and it seems I won that battle. Now I am on a mission to find out the correct name. I know some family members call it snake moss but thats a generic name of course.

Even the sun shines on a dogs ass once in awhile. When the ex wife came home- I felt so miserable without you, it was almost like having you here.

Great pictures again! What photo editing software are you using? -
Agreed, the way I see things is the biggest difference in a written comment and a verbal one is the lack of emphasizing the way things are said with words. I mean you can say something with a sarcastic tone for example and immediately know it was sarcasm, now you type it and it can come across either way to many people. I honestly think this is what happens the majority of the time. Post are misunderstood and people get upset. The original poster can sure clear it up, but for some by the time that happens some are beyond being able to change there posting attitude at that point. It bothers some more than others. Some like to just poke the fire, heck I did that a couple times this weekend and thats not my normal take on forums. Some like to just plain bitch and whine or call names. It makes no difference to me, as soon as I click that X on the top right of my screen it is out of my mind anyhow. What I do like about learning peoples attitudes is I know which ones I would be more likely to take advice from and which ones I would not. Life is all good, its up to each member to determine how they want to represent themselves with the choice of words they use, type. Some come off as complete asses and thats fine as long as they are content looking like one. By the way this is a general statement and not pointed at anyone in particular just a thought on the way I see things.
-
Now that was funny Treeguy. LMAO Now back to the regular schedule arguments!!!! And just to poke the fire unlike John who didnt mean to but did anyways lol. You see the way this reads, "The thing that bothers me the most is all the city people that move up here buy a little peice of there own heaven, post the crap out of the land, put up security cameras and then tresspass all over there neighbors lands!!" Now lets reword that a bit and see how it reads. The thing that bothers me the most OF ALL, IS the city people that move up here buy a little peice of there own heaven, post the crap out of the land, put up security cameras and then tresspass all over there neighbors lands!!" I read it the way it was wrote, whether thats the way he intended it to read or not it certainly sounds like he is saying "ALL THE CITY PEOPLE". Im just saying lol.

I almost forgot about the added stress of reading NYB bulletins lol.
-
My extra rounds are in the clip even then I never have went through them to consider carrying more in my pocket. One in the chamber and 4 in the clip. Whats all the extra bullets for anyways?
-
Oh and the ticks, the f&*(#&$ things are everywhere!

Well DOC I just think with the added stress of the latest antics with our political powers in office are a big part of it all. Wherever I go someone is always talking about the latest yank down your pants Im coming to bend you over political agenda we have going on in the whitehouse. Not to mention for some of us guys in the ag game, is adding alot of stress. Maple season was worse ever in history, lots of frost damage to fruit growers, lack of rain for farm crops and food plot guys. The latest up and coming or flushed down and out Hunting regs. Yep the heat, taxes, gas prices, unemployment dont make things any easier to deal with day to day activities. Now throw in the anticipation of the upcoming hunting season makes for some grumpy men and yes women too. Alot of stress to deal with in one year for all americans I think. We have alot to be angry about and Im betting alot of people are venting at the first chance we get. Besides its alot easier to yell over a keyboard and poke childish names at each other than piss off the wifey or hubby and sleep on the couch lol.

Im well aware! Hence the reason I said 27 people would require 27 life jackets. When I tournament fished we got checked by DEC and Sheriffs dept constantly. We had to account for 1 life vest per person on the boat, also if under power we had to have them on period there was zero debate about it, you got caught under power without wearing one you got ticketed. Unless you were in the cabin of the boat, but the moment you stepped out it had to be on if under power.
-
Radio news said there was a total of 27 people on the boat and alcohol might have been a contributing factor. Such a sad deal that the lack of common sense cost 3 innocent lifes. 27 people would require 27 life jackets on that boat as well. Someone is going to be held accountable for what happend and why. What a tragedy.

Well I can understand the part about not spreading fertilizer or chemicals around or near a water source. The rest I call BS this state is getting worse every day. Focking Libtards are sure in a hurry to shove every damn thing they can down our throats and then scratch there heads why the hell everyone wants to leave. Just keeps getting better and better being a NYer.

lets try that link again / make sure you click on read all under possesion. http://www.nraila.or...s/new-york.aspx

WNYBuckhunter is correct. Ages 12-16 must be supervised. Ages under 12 it is illegal in NY to posses a firearm supervised or not. Its sad that is for sure. This only happened a few years ago if Im not mistaken. There was a big deal about it in our local paper. Read POSSESION_RIFLES AND SHOTGUNS http://www.nraila.org/gun-laws/state-laws/new-york.aspx
