You can change your pack depending on your requirements. I have much less clothes during early season bow. I usually go with a full pack except on LI where the cold weather issue and the possibility of spending a night is slim to none. My spare ammo is my 3 arrows for bow season but that is usually solo and much less clothes, rain gear is always packed regardless of predictions. All that extra gear ensures a warm day especially when it gets nasty out. This ensures I will stay in the woods all day until shooting time is over. If you get out of the woods before dark every hunt I can understand loosing the pack completely but for those who tend to venture where most do not a well packed back pack is essential. When I start to panic as I realize I am still deep in thick woods and it is getting dark, my back pack calms my nerves, ensures my safety and lights the way out. Glow in the dark compass is a life saver. Forgot about the wet wipes, they clean up nice when its messy! Combat gauze, thanks Larry302 something else to add! Like I don't have enough, lol.

Small back pack: But it gets filled when hunting the ADK late season, less clothes on LI or early bow. Flashlights at least 3 with spare bulbs, headlamp. (I get stuck in the dark often.) Extra batteries Triple decker Turkey, ham and cheese w/mustard sandwich in clear Tupperware, chips, Milky Way bar, granola fruit and nut bars, apple. Soda, lemonade, water, Gatorade. Extra sweats and packable raingear. Extra socks and gloves in Ziploc bag. Many lighters Many buck tubes and 3 doe in heat cans First Aid kit Drag rope Knife Extra ammo 5-7 rounds Clip on compass extra in back pack, spare in knife GPS Maps Emergency blanket Hockey tape Para Cord Toilet paper in double Ziploc Hot seat is tied to back pack and stuffed under it when hiking. Cleaning gloves that I seem to never use. Magnesium fire starter Cell phone except in the ADK, no signal Folding saw 2 way radio if I am not solo 3 pens One extra boot lace. Extra hat, full ski face mask, neck warmer, bandanas and balaclava. Wallet with tags and any permits in Ziploc. Usually by the 4th day I need to bring Advil! One man tent and water purifier for overnight scouting/hunting, I have yet to do this! One for my bucket list. Crampons if it gets that bad, lucky for me not yet! Go Pro w/remote, sometimes. Binoculars , I rarely use them but see it's a valuable tool to invest in.

LOL RUN!!! Those are some funny stories!

One year I was bow hunting and saw the smallest fawn and doe and had a close encounter with both. Thinking back this must have been last years fawn who reproduced. Question: Have you ever seen this and if so how often? I was reading it can be 10-50% depending on food, habitat and climate.

74 days until Sep 27th Opening of bow Northern Zone, scouting! Plus a minute chance at a buck. We need a clock!

LOL that's a good one Doc!

Very very cool! Good luck with him and try to keep your trail cams above 6ft or higher if possible. They are not as spooked when the light comes from above. Personally I would not risk spooking him with trail cams but that's up to you. Again good luck he is a true survivor and monarch of the woods that's for sure! Check out this video, very informative about trail cams and proper set up. Hope to see you with him this year, again good luck! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVQUSR5BdIk&feature=kp

Get involved or loose more gun rights your choice. One thing is for sure, the activist will not stop and they are political. If we do nothing, they will write our laws and that is bad. As I said before I am not very political but this has been forced upon me as a gun owner and hunter and I will not lay down. Bubba your insight is invaluable please do not stop, we need more like you and others need to be made aware. Again I would rather not have to deal with this but it has been forced on us. The site became more political because WE NEED MORE VOTES!!! Do not lay down, back down or stop, the traitors who trample on our second amendment will not that for sure! Lets send a message this election that we will not back down.

Deer season is less than 3 months, I think once it starts again we will be more inclined to post about that instead of politics. But then again this is an election year so politics will be involved. I have to agree with Phade and think it would be nice to have the political post on another board instead of the main posting board. (I am here for hunting info, knowledge, wisdom and some pretty awesome trail cam pics among other things.) The political part seems to divide us more than unite. I do feel this has been forced upon us due to regulation like the safe act, gun confiscation and other issues that do need our attention. It is unfortunate but it is something we are all facing and it is going to hit home quicker than you think. One thing is for sure: If we do not get involved we will be at the mercy of our enemies. I am not very politic but this has been forced upon us to keep fighting for our rights and I am not about to lay down. This site is not the only hunting site that has politics involved, every hunting site has political posts now due to our 2nd amendment being trampled on.

This show is how dumb anti-hunters really are...
NFA-ADK replied to Elmo's topic in General Chit Chat
Typical of the PETA types. Jump all over any hunter, especially if they are famous! Even if they are legal and did nothing wrong. And how we are so uneducated, LOL! Now how can we save those poor innocent dinosaurs? -
Another good reason to get your registration done. They are waiting for your reply. Register now so they can take your guns later. GOOD LUCK

Looking forward to more pics when they drop.

Woodchuck, that is not the tail it's a branch or log with sun on it.
