First gobble at 5:36. 2 birds together, a couple hundred yards up the ridge. They were talking until a few minutes ago, when 2 deer snuck in on me and blew like crazy. Great to be back in the woods. I can't wait until Saturday!

Bad enough they're being forced to go aquatic by marauding packs of coyotes. I hear there's turkeys being found with webbed feet now. Evolution is really speeding up these days, I guess.

Might be time to stay out of the spot, rob. Seeing birds isn't necessarily a good thing, because they almost surely saw you, & it is getting to the point you really don't want to be bumping them.

I just bought the XR's. Outstanding patterns! At 45 yards, I had 27 and 36 head / neck pellets in the 2 shots I took. I got the #5 shot. My boy and I are super excited about the youth hunt. This year will be the year of redemption!!!!! (I really hope)

LoL. That's the exact load I shoot out of my Deerhunter. 90gr of 777 ffg and the 385. So I'm hoping it works well with this one.

Thanks everyone! -Airedale, it's a 1:48, same as my Traditions. So, I'm hoping the conicals shoot well out of it. -Belo, I love the look of it too, yeah it was a good price when I finally found one. Lots of places list them, but none had any in stock. The place I got it has a few more if anyone's interested. They really are nearly impossible to find. I looked for months.

Just got here! I've been tracking it all week on UPS, like a little kid watching that Santa Claus tracker on TV. Lyman Deerstalker stainless 50cal. Deer season never felt so far away ????.

I keep mine about 20 yards from me. I want to be able to shoot double the distance that my deke is from me, in case the bird hangs up a ways from the deke.
