  1. A 17 wouldn't be one of my picks for squirrel. Unless you're talking red squirrels, that you aren't going to eat anyway. That's a loud a$$ gun, too. I get a lot of multiple kills in the same location with my 22. I don't see that happening as much with a 17.
  2. I always pick up a couple pieces of trash when I'm out there. In a bad area, me removing a can or bag isn't going to make a big difference, but it's the right thing to do. If more of us picked up just 1 piece of trash on every trip out there.... To me, it's a show of respect to nature, & the creatures that live out there.
  3. Nice to see animals reaching across racial lines.
  4. I believe greys & blacks can cross breed, but I don't think so, about the fox's. I think they're a little different.
  5. & as for you Ralphie, you won't "shoot your eye out, kid". You'll be deader than a brain shot elephant.
  6. There are some serious air weapons out there. Red Rider, you've come a long way, Baby!
  7. There's a black, and a really fat grey in particular, that I've got it out for this weekend. I like to spend deer season compiling a squirrel hit list.
  8. Squirrel hunting and trout fishing all weekend at camp. Pumped!
  9. I know what you meant Ants! Just didn't want you feeling like you had to justify your buck to any one else. I know You're an appreciative kind of guy. Again, congrats.
  10. The caption of this picture was "We saw his star in the east, & have come to worship him". It made me think about how thankful I am, that I get to share such a wonderful part of my life, with such great people. We come from all walks of life & we disagree often, but we all unite on a love for God's creation. Outdoorsmen, I think, have a unique understanding of our bond to our Creator & the natural world. As we look back at the year, let's be thankful for our time out there with family & friends, our harvests, & win or lose, just the blessing to experience it all. I see this group as a family. A dysfunctional family, but a family. Thanks for making me feel a part of you this year, & sharing your adventures with me. God willing, here's to many more!
  11. No such thing as "just" a scrub buck. Be thankful for, & proud of him, you worked hard for it! Nice job!
  12. But then again, I guess anything is good covered is BBQ sauce.
  13. I shot a bunch of pigeons once, when I was a kid. We bbq'd them on a wood fire. I thought they were good.
  14. No worries Law, "season" is what goes ON the meat.
  15. I could never stand hearing the name Smuckers. Even reading it, I feel a slight urge to kill.
  16. I happen to be a lefty, if he wants to sell it!
  17. Pattern doesn't matter, but I do wear camo, as well as a mask & gloves. Squirrels may not be as likely to bust me as other game, but I'm investing the time & effort to hunt them, so why not be serious about it? It can't hurt to be fully camouflaged, & if it pays off with an extra shot or two, it was worth it. If not, I'll never know the difference. Squirrels are my No.1 game, so to me, going all out is a must.
  18. I've got a lot of respect for anyone that kills a deer with traditional gear. To me, a spike with a recurve, is more of a trophy than a 140" with a compound. I hope to get into traditional archery this year.
  19. Lovin the Lodge dutch oven! I don't have one, but I have a lot of their cast iron. Great pic.
  20. She got her. Young doe. First kill for the GF with ner new ML!
  21. She hit a doe. Felt like a good shot. Will keep you posted!
  22. Man, given the choice, I'll always be the driver. I love this.
