  1. About to start our final drives for the year, in 8G. I love that anticipation before I head into the thicket. The suspense of hoping / waiting to hear a shot is awesome.
  2. My GF has done a couple. They look sweet. It's a lot of extra work.
  3. Since we don't have a "live from the creek thread". But the creek is in the woods, so does this count?
  4. What's your price range? A RUGER 77/22 All weather, is about as tough and accurate as a 22 can be. Black synthetic & stainless. Pricey, but an awesome rifle. 2nd choice: stainless / synthetic 10:22
  5. Yeah, there's no way the producers of deer urine could keep up with demand. Notice that it says stuff like "100% doe urine", but rarely says the word "deer"? (With obvious exceptions like small farms. But, I'm talking about the really mass produced stuff). Technically, they aren't lying. It IS doe urine, but that doe happens to be a female rabbit, the majority of the time. Female rabbits are called does, & the hormones in the urine are similar, so it still attracts deer (In theory). I used to know a guy in the industry, & he laughed when he talked about the absolute garbage that people are duped into buying. I used the Tinks smokin sticks for one season, because it was given to me. I had some good reponse with the "all season" one. I think it worked, but not well enough for me to buy it again. Years ago, when I did use urine, I rarely used estrous scent, & never used any dominant buck lure. I didn't want to spook smaller bucks, or any doe, (because I happily kill either) so those scents would've defeated my purpose. Now, I don't use any attractant. I shower with scent killer soap & use the scent free / no UV brightener laundry detergent. I store all my hunting clothes (inner & outer layers) in a rubber tote, until I get to my hunting spot. I get dressed once I get there. I use scent killer cover spray, hunt the wind, piss in a bottle, & try to be where the deer want to end up that morning or evening.
  6. In pic #3, it looks like a spot of blood on the yellow dog's shoulder. Did he catch a pellet? I consider myself pretty careful, but I've always been really paranoid about giving the dogs plenty of space from where I shoot. I hunted ducks over dogs a few times, but only hunted pheasants once. It was awesome. Good job!
  7. I lost a doe & a buck once. Brought them back from the butcher, & put them both in the same upright freezer. Opened it a few weeks later, & brownish black liquid poured out onto all over the floor. Everything inside was pretty well decayed. Horrible clean up job. We actually took the window out, & threw the freezer out a 2nd story, rather than carry it down the stairs & have to inhale it. I still feel bad when I look at that buck's rack, or pics of those deer. Losing the meat really robbed me of the satisfaction of the hunt. I still wish I hadn't shot either of them. What a waste, they died for nothing.
  8. Any of us who can help out, let's do it. I didn't even come close to $100, as I'm sure most of us can't. Let's give what we can, though. And there's nothing greedy about accepting help from people who care about you. Maybe we don't all know you personally, but I don't think of it as charity. It's helping out a brother. Whoever said that to you is a tool.
  9. "As a camp should be loved" - That's perfect.
  10. Halfnelson, I'd be smiling too, if I had fishnet in my teeth!
  11. Just pushed a bunch of doe out to my buddy, at his place in Wheatland (8G). He got the biggest one. He's set for the year now.
  12. & it would be fine with me, if they all were scrubbed from the earth. Islam should be abolished.
  13. Oh, ok good. Because I do hate them. All of them. And their families.
  14. If it's just a hunk of bone, it should mean even less to the guy who just picked it up. I'm sure he just kept the rack to let the dog chew it.
  15. Definitely not a successful harvest though. I've got a rack that I recovered much later. It isn't a trophy, like the rest of them. It sits in its own place, as a reminder that I need to make every possible effort to humanely & cleanly kill the deer I shoot at.
  16. I agree. I'm just saying that being the guy I think you are, if you believed the guy shot it, I have a feeling you would give it to him.
  17. I hear you Papist, but I find it hard to believe that you wouldn't give them to the guy who shot it, if he contacted you.
  18. I've heard Barnett has a lot of problems. From doing my own research while I was shopping for one, & from a couple guys who sell crossbows. They work at a store where they're forced to sell Barnett bows along with several others. I was looking at them, but they steered me away from Barnett. They weren't trying to upsell me, either. The 10 point I bought was cheaper. They have a LOT of Barnetts come back. I saw a guy bring one in that had exploded. I like the idea of trading both in on a better bow.
  19. Some class on the part of the guy who won't give the antlers to him. What a loser.
  20. Reasons aside, this just shows how right DEC is. This low 2015 harvest, is unacceptable. It's definitely time to put an early (September) ML season in place, in the southern zone. We gotta knock those doe numbers down next year. We hunters just aren't doing our job. This herd is out of control! It's HUUUUUUUUUUGE!!!!
  21. There's a double bladed axe that Estwing makes. It has a leather handle, just like the camper's axe. I love their stuff. I'm hoping that comes along.
  22. Oh, I didn't see the second "s". Was worried about you for a minute.
