Lots of bass fishing for both small and large mouths tons of pan fish and some of the best trout and salmon fishing in the country. You have Lake Champlain right there it boarders VT and NY great fishing.

The town that I live in you need to be 150ft from your neighbor’s house to shoot a bow or have written permission saying its ok. But the town police usually don’t bother you unless someone complains. Now in the village it may be different. But technically you can’t shoot a bow in your back yard in the town I live.

I like watching finding Big Foot cracks me up, I also like Mountain Monsters they make so much noises I can’t see how they would ever get anything.

This is what happen to me a few years ago I lost the key for the lock on my stand. Well I found a key but wasn’t sure if it was the key. So got my stuff together safety vest all that stuff. So I go down to where I hunt did some work checked trail cams and other tree stands. I get to this stand it’s in a hickory tree so I check the steps they seem ok. I also have a safety rope with a slip knot that you attach your safety vest to and side it up as you go up the tree. I was not going to go all the way up I was just going to go up far enough to see if the key fit the lock. I thought about not wearing my vest but I did and hooked up to the safety line. I started up the tree and got to where I need to be I tighten up on the safety line. What I didn’t know was the tree had rotted around one of the steps. The step pulled out of the tree and I fell the safety line tighten up and caught me. But I fell about 12 to 18 inches before I stopped. I got caught by 2 steps one got me in the chin that didn’t do much damage just hurt like hell. The other step caught me in the stomach to rt. and about 4” above my naval. It severely bruised my liver I was out of work for a week and it took over a year for my liver to heal.

It’s this simple you can’t justify killing a deer out of season that’s poaching. If the town has a no hunting ordinance then you are also in violation of that law. If it is deer season your still in violation of the town law even if the DEC decides not to prosecute. I would not risk my hunting license on something so stupid.

DEER IN THIS PART OF THE STATE DON’T YARD UP LIKE IN THE ADK. WHAT WE SEE ARE DEER FROM THE GENERAL AREA GOING TO WHERE THE MOST FOOD IS. I HAVE 2 DOE GROUPS COMING TO MY BIRD FEEDER DOWN THE ROAD THERE IS SOME STANDING CORN THERE’S 20 OR MORE DEER IN THERE A NIGHT. IT IS A GOOD WAY TO SEE ABOUT HOW MANY DEER ARE IN THE AREA. Yep I like being embarrass by a bird 2/3’s the size of a chicken. THEY BE FAST I BE SLOW AND THE OLDER I GET THE FASTER THEY GET.

There can be more than one reason for a case to crack. 1 the case has a flaw in it. (if cases are new or reloaded once or twice) 2 they get work harden though resizing and firing (if only shooting out of 1 gun try neck sizing, neck size only down far enough to hold the bullet it will give you more time ) 3 case lengths has been stretch (keep cases to trim length) 4 throat in the gun is bad (you’ll need a gun smith) 5 load is to hot (look for pressure signs)

I see they don’t have any 150gr load data wonder if they are only recommending 100gr loads for 777 and no load data for whitehots.

Mike if past history is any indication then I can see coming out of the task force a 45 / 15 split or even a 50/10 split. The meeting I would like to sit in on would be the task force meeting on Long Island there will be no independent sea duck season, on Long Island. If I read the reg’s right sea ducks will become part of the regular bag limit. So the limit will be 6 birds and not 6 plus a 6 bird sea duck limit they are also going to have a loss of more than a 100 days (10/17 – 1/31)

do you know who the task force REP. is for your area is? If not call the DEC HQ. in your area they will give you his phone number and e-mail. Have you ever been to a season setting task force meeting if not then you should go you won’t be allowed to say anything but it will let you see how the proses works. Just to let you know the dates you pick puts most of the goose season outside the duck season. Goose in this part of the state can’t open before the 4th Sat. in Oct. there will be push back on these dates.

next meeting is on 3/13 same time this meeting will be what the organization will recommend for seasons at the task force season setting meeting the public is welcome. the directors will work out what the group will recommend for seasons for 60,50, 40, and 30 days all depends on how many days the fed’s give us. Then it will be presented in the open meeting for comments and changes. Then it will be presented at the task force meeting. One thing I will tell you there will always be a split season in this part of the state. there is a lot of info given out by the DEC & the FED's

how many didn't get a buck because they pass on some bucks

The 1 to 1 buck to doe ratio is a myth. Nature never intended for deer sex ratios to be 1 to 1. If they were deer would mate for life. Just the nature of buck behavior puts them at higher risk. Also Bio. 101 states an overabundance of male is counterproductive for species survival. Anything we do is just a manipulation on our part for our benefit not the deer’s. to get to a 1 to 1 ratio we will have fewer deer over all so you will see less deer but more buck sightings per doe sighting. Can’t have it both ways and anyways where hunting takes place the DEC has said the buck to doe ratio is about 1 buck to 2 does.

So out of the post so far 41 post have said at least someone got at least 1 deer. Only 8 post have said no one got a deer. That’s not bad. I got 3 deer
