Back in the late 70s and early 80s myself and about 5 other duck hunters started to collect gizzard samples for the DEC. We collected over 600 gizzards in 3 years the ducks ranged from wood ducks to oldsquaws. The birds were shot anywhere from fields to the shore and bays of lake Ontario. The bird we kill the most of were Blue Bills in 3 years we turned in over 300 Blue Bill gizzards. We hunted those birds from Kendell to Dexter. Three quarters of the gizzards contained lead shot pellets that included 2/3’s of the Blue Bills. With are help the DEC. was able to set the nontoxic regulation for waterfowl. We proved that most waterfowl were picking up lead shot pellets fired over water.

I love my marlin I shoot the 44’s big brother the 444 marlin. The gun shoots anything I put though it from 180’s to 300’s. But I’ve settle on the Hornady 265 fp I think it’s the best bullet out to 150yd’s. The thing is a bone crusher.

I do have to admit when I was younger I did have a couple encounters with a cougar. She got a hold of me and dam near killed me. I almost die with a smile on my face.

I have on good authority that the DEC has stocked BIG FOOTS or is that BIG FEET captured in Washington in the ADK. They have also stocked Leprechauns from Ireland and Unicorns in the southern tier.

Vegetarian is an old Indian name for bad hunter. Welcome to the fold! Hey if you were on a strait vegan diet for 10 years, and have not started to eat meat yet. I would start with something lite like chicken or fish, than work up to red meats. It’s all in portions try no bigger than the palm of your hand.

spring will be here soon May or June is not to far away

It was paper based I even sent in a sheet explaining why I answered some of the questions the way I did when I ran out of space. Like on AR’s why I pass on small bucks and I’m stead flatly against AR’s. Basically it’s my choice and I don’t have the right tell someone how to hunt on their land or to make them hunt the way I do.

A doe fawn has to reach about 80lb before she is able to breed. About 20% of doe fawns are bread each year usually in mid to late December. Remember gestation is about 200 days that would mean fawns would be doped in July or August. if the were bread today.

I work in Geneva and I haven’t seen any snows yet.

try hunting 11/1 till the start of gun season that's my rut prediction
-
The farm that I hunt with a nuisance permits is only given 3 tags good for does only from April to the end of September. I don’t kill any till August it would creep me out if I field dress a doe with fawns. The rules are if I kill a deer I can’t keep it has to go to a needy family in the owner’s church but I’m ok with that. Gets me on the land for the deer season.

I'd really hope deer hunters start rallying together....

are you sure its not New York State Conservation Council. when I google NYSCC I get the conservation council and I went in 5 pages and no cross bow coalition. -
Here’s a suggestion try putting your cams pointed down the trail instead of across the trail when possible. This will keep the deer in the camera longer. You will get more head shots and more but shots depending on what direction they are going. But you can still see the head gear. Also try multi – shot mode.

I’m making the assumption that the NYSCC is the New York Conservation Council. The NYSCC did not commission the surveys it was the DEC with the Demographics Group from Cornell. That’s just to let you know. -
So now how do I find the results
-
One of the reasons the DEC opted for no change. Was how would you like to go into the meeting to tell deer hunters in one of the buck management units that don’t have AR’s saying we are putting AR’s in place. Better yet how about telling us there going to shorten the gun season by a week. You imagine the abuse they would have to take. I would rather be in a fire fight at lease I could shoot back.
-
There not going to resin any AR’s that are in place but there not going to add any new ones.
-
The DEC is saying no change in the deer regulations for up to the next 5 years, and the possible removal of the doe only reg. in some WMU’s. That’s ok with me.

For whatever the reason there are exceptions to shooting rules there is an exception to the 500ft gun discharge rule. Now I don’t know if it’s everywhere but I know it’s on Lake Ontario and the Finger Lakes. When water fowl hunting and shooting “OVER WATER” THE 500FT rule does not apply key words over water also not towards a house.
