Looks like in an effort to curb the spread of CWD Pennsylvania is going to ban the sale and use of urine-based scents. New York is also process of crafting regulations to do the same.
-
Notice I said deer hunting not whitetail deer hunting. We all know only the lower 48 have whitetails.
-
The guy who said NY is the worst state to hunt deer is the guy who doesn’t like the cold. North American whitetail ranks NY 22nd out of 50 for deer hunting. Take a look at the NYBC book and that’s just the deer put into the book. To the guys who go to Iowa and Ohio and places like that. It’s not the state that makes the deer hunting the way it is there, it’s how the properties are manage by the owners or leases. I hate to do this but look at Lee and Tiffany when you lockup a couple of thousand acres and only let a few people hunt it look at what you can do. If I read the Iowa regs. right a land owner in some places can kill up to 3 bucks. So there goes the 1 buck rule.
-
That is another thing PISS – POOR FOREST MANAGEMENT.
-
if you have 2 ether sex tags or a reg. season buck tag and a ether sex tag then yes
-
To the guy who said not having a one buck rule hurts the deer numbers. I’m going to come out and say it! You don’t know crap about population management. You increase or decrease numbers by killing or not kill does. This is just 8th grade biology that circle of life thing and eco-systems. I could go in to more detail but that may be above you. What is your definition of a bad season? Why this may be a bad season. The weather has been warm. The woods are maturing in some place and don’t provide the best habitat for deer anymore. Most land is in privet hands and it’s harder to get access to that land and to the deer. We are sitters we don’t for the most part put on drives. We don’t stay out all day those, that are the ones killing deer. Some of us worry more about what the other guy is doing then hunting or what he’s shooting. The DEC has made some mistakes. We don’t report are harvest.

This is how it works first check the regs. book! If you bought a bow tag you can hunt the early or late bow season that tag is an either sex tag. If you just bought a ML tag your tag was an either sex tag good for the ML season both early (northern zone) and late southern & northern zones you need to check the regs. to see if the WMU you are hunting in is doe or buck only. If you bought both a bow and ML tag you got an either sex and a antlerless tag and you can fill both in the bow or ML season. If you bought a bow tag and filled it then go out and buy a ML you will get an Antlerless tag you will not get an either sex tag. You can only shoot no more than 2 antlered deer in a year. If you did not fill your reg. season buck tag it becomes a either sex tag in the late southern zone bow ML season but you have to have bought a bow or Ml hunting privilege to you your reg. tag. You just can’t use it without having bought one of those privileges.

I would have it checked and call the dec. I would like to know what town I also hunt 8g and can you keep us posted. one more thing its kind of odd to have 6 deer die together as a winter kill around here no real deer yards like up north
-
I would have to say from watching finding BIGFOOT I would try some wood knocking & some whoops I think you have BIGFOOT POOP
-
I would check out the rem. Versa- max shoots 2 ¾ to 3 ½ inch only thing I don’t think they make a deer barrel for it
-
I am going to try one of the federal full bore projectiles this year the only one I could get was the 350gr all lead. I will be going to the range this week. I shoot white hots and will be trying both 100 and 150gr loads. I was just wondering if anyone has shot ether the copper or lead projectile and what there results were
-
Greg54 the first thing I’m going to ask(ax) are you not seeing deer or not seeing deer you would shoot. If it’s not seeing deer you would shoot then that’s your choice. If you’re not seeing deer at all then I have a few suggestions: I would find a new place to hunt, maybe change your soap, maybe start using soap.

this is the first time I have ever seen a deer with a arrow stuck in it. I don't know who shot it this video was take at a scrape I put a cam on MFDC0062.AVI

bow I try to stop them gun if they are walking or even trotting i'll just shoot. a walking deer is moving about 3mph a trotting deer is going 6 to 10mph. on a walking deer a gun at say 50yds I don't even lead them the bullet out of my 444 is moving at 2300fps it will take less than .008 sec. to get there no lead is needed
-
yep just shoot'em that's what I do them. I give them to the Chinese restraint so they can make we's - gone - poo

I hunt 9p across from rattlesnake hill it was the quietest opener I can remember. Just not a lot of shots few dmp’s. I was lucky and had a dmp. but filled in bow season. I passed on 3 small bucks on opening day my son missed a spike. I saw 7 does and fawns my son saw 3 does. The 3 bucks I passed on all would have been legal in an AR zone IT’S MY CHOICE TO PASS ON THEM. I believe AR’s and Earn A Buck are the worst things to happen to deer hunting.Like to hear from anyone hunting Letchworth state park
