sorry for your lost

of course i trim then back when i need to but to load the 265 flex tips you have to trim the case to2.065 in stead of 2.225. that would make them to short for other bullets. i do have cases for the 265 flex tips but only 20

hey i hunt with a 444 also. i have been using flex tips in 265gr but i reload the 225gr ftx so i don't have trim back the cases. i have killed 2 deer with the 225's. but they run way to much a 1 ran adout 6 feet and the 2nd one went about 3 feet.

that guy will help cut the number of tree rats in your lacation.

like most of are bows are rated ove 300fps. how many shoot that fast IBO speed is a BS number cross-bow speed is the same way. they should use the speed the avg. guy can expect get out of his bow or cross-bow

I have killed 2 deer whith 6mm's 1 was 150yd shot with a rem 6mmbr in a xp100 and a 80gr single shot pistol bullet the other was with my 700 rem at about 70yds useing 100gr btsp. Both bullets went though and they did a lot of damage on the way. 1 deer went about 50yds the other went about 5ft. you have to use the right bullet and put it where it needs to go

need to see pic's and one more thing Wouldn't you think if there is a breeding pair of mountain lion's anywhere in this state the DEC would be all over this and so would the news media
-
i would go with a rem 700 in 7mm-08 unless you were going to hunt something bigger than deer and black bears then i would go with a 7mm mag or a 30cal of some kind

You know they may have both looked a lot alike and he could tell the difference. And shot the one squealing. Just a thought .

If you use the standard it takes 1000 energy foot pounds to kill a deer cleanly. Then using 105gr hornady 6mm bullet at 3000fps you can hold 1000efp’s out to 500yd’s. Also you have to look at bullet construction just because a bullet has a small diameter doesn’t mean it won’t penetrate well another thing to take into consideration is sectional density. The higher the sectional density for a given bullet Dia. the better it will maintain velocity and energy down range. A 243 is more than enough gun for deer. In most cases chances are if you unable kill it with a 243 you’re not going to kill it with a 06. A bad shot is a bad shot no matter what you shoot. Just as dead is dead.

Are the winds of change coming???
Larry replied to sits in trees's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
My 16 year old son came up with something on the Mayan and the Julian calendars. He goes to me hey dad you know how the world is supposed to end on December 21. The Julian calendar that we use today has leap years in it the Mayan doesn’t. So he tells we have had enough leap years that we all should have die last Dec. 21st. -
Hand Loading 12 ga sabot slugs
Larry replied to Culvercreek hunt club's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
One thing you should consider before reloading a slug to 1800 to 2100 is the rate of twist of your barrel. Most 12ga barrels have a rate of 1:33 or a 1:35 they are made to stabilize a slug with muzzle velocity up to 1600. You will need a barrel with a 1:28 twist rate to get optimum accuracy at that speed. -
Hey JFB your statement. “that it doesn’t take as much practice to shoot a cross-bow”. What the hell does that mean? Is that supposed to be bad? I would rather see someone with limited practice. Who can shoot a cross-bow well, then the guy who takes out his bow a week before the season, and then wonders why he lost 2 or 3 deer?( it’s ok He’s a bow hunter)
-
That is true but for right now you can only use a cross-bow during gun and the bow ml season. My thinking is the DEC when the time comes will add cross-bows to the archery course.
-
I’m with you I’m not going to give up my bow for a cross-bow. One thing though if someone chooses to use a cross-bow, and has put forth the argument that a cross-bow is archery equipment. They should have to take the bow hunters course to use it in the bow season. YOU CAN’T HAVE IT BOTH WAY’S

Just to let some of you know the comment period has been over for a while now. -
i was just saying think how far a deer could move with that flite time. so don't be a Curmudgeon
-
2 things 1 how about that time of flite think how far a deer could move in that much time. 2 this will add fuel to the fire that a cross - bow is no better then a bow
-
to many good cal's out there to use 9mm besides a 9mm is a girls gun
