I don't know what the big deal is PA. Has a 50yd. Set back for bow and if you hunt waterfowl in NY. As long as you are shooting over the water you don't have to be 500ft. From a building even if you don't own it.

It would be legal but it's a ak-74 round and I’m sure the only gun that 5.45x39 comes in is the ak. You would have to have a 5 round mag can't have more then 6 rounds total for big game hunting and you would have to follow safe-act requirements. I would just use a shotgun with a good peace of glass on it.

This happen back in the early 80's 3 of us were hunting ducks on a farm pond a long the Lake Ontario parkway. The duck blind was on the far side of the pond one of us shot a duck and it crashed in some trees and brush between the pond and the parkway. So it was my turn to hunt the bird down I went around to the where the bird went down and went in looking for it. As soon as I went in to the brush I could smell it that’s when I found the body of a woman. That ended the duck hunting for the day. Some one was dumping bodies along the parkway they never caught the guy. They had a suspect but he died before they prove it was him.

I have been reading what some of you think the future seasons should be. I was 1 of the 7000 that received a survey from the DEC. I filled it out and returned it in 2 days. So its been in for a while. I also sent a page explaining why I answered some of the key questions the way I did. So here’s how I answered some questions: Youth hunt, all for it (even though I bow hunt) Shortening the gun season, I’m not in favor of shortening any season. Going to 1 buck per-year: not in favor(I haven't killed 2 bucks in the same year since 2004)here’s why I hunt out of a camp like a lot of you do, the camp is in a wmu that does not give out a lot of dmp's if kill a buck in bow season and don't get a dmp I don't go to camp. Also I’m force to hunt where I have a dmp and can't check out a new spot. Antler Restrictions: not in favor. I pass on small bucks that’s my choice I don't have the right to force someone to hunt the way I do or to decide for them what a trophy is.

ammo checks has been put on hold for at lease 1 year. the state was hoping the feds would do it for them though nics. the state dose not have the system in place or the money to put one in place.(about another 20 mil.).

go with the 700 in 308 with a 3 by 9 not a 14 power. I would get a 700 in 7-08.

I have 2 deer on the ground. a doe in bow and a 8pt in gun. I'm hunting 8g and 9p seeing deer every time I go out. went out behind my house (8g) on Sat. till 930 seen 3 bucks no does. I can't kill a buck till ml season. going to try hemlock lake this weekend have a 8n dmp just hunting with my 44mag.

I killed my biggest buck there over 145gross 11pt. you have to go back in. I don’t normally hunt there I found the spot while grouse hunting 1weekend a few years ago before bow open on oct. 1st . Killed it that same year on the 28th of Oct. A couple things one is rattle snake is in both Livingston and Alleghany counties one is rifle the other is not. I would go up England hill rd it’s pass the town of swain on the left side of rout 70 need 4wd to get up the hill also before you get to rattle snake there is Alleghany county forest I killed a nice 8pt on it may get less pressure.

Let’s not all go nuts here it’s not a law, and till January there is no way they can know how much ammo anyone has and how long you have had it. Even after January unless they take lot numbers from every box and come to your house to check if you are holding it or have shot it up, and you can go to some other state and by ammo. It’s just like 30 round mags they will never know how many are out there they aren’t tracked for that matter they have no clue on how many of the “bad” guns are out there. If say an AR was bought by you from a person in PA. and not a gun shop or you moved here from PA they would never know you had one unless you got caught with it.

If I didn’t all ready have a 444 and a 6mm and was only going hunting east of the Mississippi and looking to by a rifle. I would look for one between a 260rem and a 308win with a 7mm-08 being my choice.

Hey guys on hunting show I saw a guy shoot a deer at 95yd’s with a bow. He used the excuse that he hit the deer the day before and it was limping. When he hit the deer in the liver and it took off it didn’t look like it was hit the day before. He did recover the deer but unethical is unethical and it doesn’t matter what you are using.

deerthug a 20ga will be fine I bought my son an 870 20ga when he turned 12 and the dam thing patterned better at 40yds for turkeys then my 11-87 12ga. I just made it into a deer gun, for me. I found a 20ga Hastings barrel and pined it to the frame shoots great. A pump is the way to go.

Just to let you know mountain lions don’t hang their kills. Leopards hang their kills.

If I remember correctly a few years ago when the use of rifles was first talked about they could be used south of 5&20 is that still true.

I shoot mine at lease once a every few weeks

I’m sitting on 2 bricks of 22lr ammo I shoot sport rifle. I would like to go out and shoot but I want to make sure I have ammo when the season starts. I am also buying slugs and steel shot now so I have it for duck and deer season, I reload rifle and hand gun ammo and can reload for about 2 years before I run out of components.

I have a crud ring in my gun and I'm having time getting it out any suggestions on removing the ring.

Has anyone seen the deer harvest report for 2012 its usually out in march.
