  1. Here's one I was told. When hunting stops being fun and more like work it's time to quit hunting.
  2. I live in 8G it's not that we don't want to kill deer we just can't get to them. I do have a place to hunt but won't hunt the early season it's to hot and I don't have any place to process a deer that early
  3. I started with a Red Rider then moved upto a 760 then Crossman made a 22cal pump all wood can't remember the name of it.
  4. There's a few here's One from a bow hunter practice practice and more practice. Here's one I tell new hunters don't over analyze there deer. One more you can fool there eyes and there ears but the nose knows everything.
  5. I know they when I got married, we pay by the plate so there were technically there no leftovers. But the desserts like leftover cakes and cookies from the cookie tray went home with us or guest. If you paid a cater to bring food to say a lodge or something like that any leftovers are yours.

  9. It's a very good hospital for replacement surgery. The staff will take very good care of you. I had mine done at RGH there very good to. Good luck and a speedy recovery
  10. Hey I had my 2nd knee replacement on April 26th and up and walking in 2 hours after. it's not fun but they will get you up and moving. What I will tell you is do what the doctor tells you and no short cuts. PT is very important. As for PT I like the idea of paying someone to torcher me. Good luck I don't go back to work till after Labor day it sucks I can't go back with a restriction.
  11. Best two days of having a pool. the first day you have it and the first day you get rid of it.
  12. I have the option of moving to NC. The 2 reason we haven't is my mom is still alive and one of my son's is still here till his girlfriend gets her PhD then there moving.
  13. This is the only social media site I'm on and l am not going to tell them it's none of there f-en business. If they want to know what l write they can become a member
  14. Hey I was listening to Bob Lonsberry’s show this morning and he had on the Livingston County sheriff. They were talking about the new law’s for permits we are all going to have to go through the new process. That has not been set up yet. They were recommending that if you can recertify your permit before the end of August. you will have 3 years to go through the new BS if you recertify after the 31st then you have till September 2023 sometime. One more thing law enforcement they don’t like this either. As for the ammo background check they tried to do it during the safe act but the Fed’s wouldn’t do it and that was during Obama. BATF said we don’t have time to check everyone who wants to buy 22’s to go squirrel hunting or something to the fact. the state did try to build a system but couldn’t get it to work. The ammo background check is only a backdoor way to find out who has an unregistered assault weapon.
  15. There all a like. I stead of asking what is it or what's that doing there they just doing what they do and then it's your fault and then you have to fix it. But we love them anyway
  16. Just a pain in the ass glad it's gone. Kids loose interest with all the other things they do.
  17. My bird feeder is 20yds from my kitchen. I just have to shoot though my family room. While my wife is watching Kelly and Ryan that would go over like a fart in church. Lol
  18. i'm glad your eyes are that good you can still use open sights
  19. Last year he used a 30-30 with open sights he didn't shoot but saw deer. He's looking at 7-08/308 he may pick it up in the next week or two. I told him if he needs a place to shoot he can go to the club with me and I would help him sight it in.
  20. I just finished the memoirs of U.S. Grant. Looking for another book to read. Maybe War& Peace or the Raise and Fall of the Third Reich
  21. I got a call from a friend who doesn’t hunt, his son is marrying into a family that hunts. His son hunted last year and likes it. he wants to know what kind of gun to buy. He wants to go buy his own. The 3 of us went to lunch and here’s what I suggested. If your new to hunting and want to hunt everything that can be hunted in NY. I would buy a 12ga shotgun with 2 barrels one bird barrel and the other a fully rifled deer barrel with a good scope on it. Then you can hunt big and small game and birds. That’s what I would do if I could only afford one gun. If you are only hunting deer and are where you can use a rifle. I would first look at what action I want to use. I told them the most popular is the bolt and then the lever action. Then you have to look at calibers and how available the ammo is. Here’s what I suggested in bolt action. Nothing smaller than a .243 I have a 6mm rem and it’s killed every deer I shot with it. Then I went up to the 6.5 Creedmoor I was impressed with it on the deer I shot with it last year. Next, I went to the 7mm-08 one of the best deer cartridges out there. Last was the 308 you can’t go wrong with that. I told them I would go with the 7mm-08 or the 308. In a lever gun even though my go to deer gun is the 444marlin I didn’t recommend it. It’s hard to get ammo. I told them there are only 4 calibers I would use in a lever gun the 30-30, 35rem., 44mag and the 45-70. I told him if you go with a lever gun, I would go with the 35 rem. With a 200gr ftx. Just wondering what you guys think
  22. sorry didn't see that only looked at the first post
