Just had my ammo shipped to my sons in NC he will bring up my shotgun shells for duck season next week.

What will you be carrying for Opening Day?
Larry replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
Depends on where I hunt. If I hunt this thick spot I'll use my 444 marlin my more open spot I'll use my 6.5 creedmor. -
I'm a big I weigh 250 and have never had a problem with any lader stand that's rated for 300lbs except when I had a 150lb or so bear try to climb up in one while I was in it. That was fun.

I found a nice spot on a wildlife management area it’s a walk in. so I use my deer hauler to bring my stuff in. I shot my limit. on my way out I met a conservation officer. He told I was his first person he ever checked for duck hunting there.

Always wanted to hunt Happy Valley for ducks. I have hunted there for snowshoes and grouse. Also wanted to try it bass fishing there.

I remember when the limit on blue bills was 5 but when you hunted lake Ontario or the bays you had 2 bonus blue bills. We would go up to Dexter NY and hunt Black River Bay. We had this spot we called blue bill point we would put out 12dz blue bill decoys. One time 4 of us shot are 7 bird limit both days one weekend that was 56 birds in 2 days. Best shoot we ever had. Use to love shooting divers. Those were the days.

I've killed 11 deer over the years with a handgun 6 with my DW VH8 44mag 3 with my S&W 629DX 1 with a 6mmBR XP100 and 1 with a 35rem XP100. What I have found is that the 44mag shot though every deer I shot even with a 180gr hp. What I'm trying to say I think the 44mag is all you need for white tails out to 100 yards.

If I’m going to pay 1600 for a 350-legend handgun, I would buy a 460 SW instead or maybe a 500. I all ready have a 629dx SW.

Just have him get another title from the DMV I would say no title no sale.

You are going to have to buy a box or two of the slugs you want to try and shoot them in your gun what shoots good in my gun may not shoot well in your gun. My gun has a 1/33 twist rate and shoots slugs going 1700 fps or slower the best. The best slugs I have shot out of my gun are WW BRI sabots at 1350 to 1450 fps. Most slug gun have a 1/33 or a 1/35 twist rate.

Carry permits, jokes on you suckers !
Larry replied to Nomad's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
To the guy about the price of 35 rem. I figured it cost me around 18¢ around not including the brass that I already had. -
You know you don't have to buy that 10-22 in NY the law states you can't buy a semi in NY without a permit. As long as you buy it legally in another state you can still bring it to your house

Well, if they do ban ammo sales on September 3rd none of us who live in western NY live more than 2hr’s from PA. I also have the option to have my son who lives in NC to bring me up a case of shotgun shells to hunt ducks. -
DEER!

I'm taking the month of November off like every year.

The state all ready wasted 28 million to try to setup a ammo background check system. When the safe act was passed after the Feds wouldn't do the checks for them. The only reason for background checks on ammo is a backdoor way to find out who has an unregistered assault weapon. Though seeing what ammo you buy.

This is what I got from my local police and the DEC. The first thing I got they don't like it there in the middle of this BS. I was told by both any new long gun that's a semiautomatic long gun including a shotgun bought after September you will need a permit. But any gun you have before September you don't need a permit. The best part is there is no system in place to get one.

2 is all I shoot But I have personal rules l follow. I go by weight on bucks not rack size. If I kill a buck in bow season then I use rack size to decide if I will shoot the second buck it has to be bigger. I like to hunt. As I've gotten older l've learned we have only a set amount of hunting seasons in us and I'm going to enjoy the one's I have left.

1 just glad I can get out after my second knee replacement. 2 have fun

Here's one I was told. When hunting stops being fun and more like work it's time to quit hunting.

I live in 8G it's not that we don't want to kill deer we just can't get to them. I do have a place to hunt but won't hunt the early season it's to hot and I don't have any place to process a deer that early

I started with a Red Rider then moved upto a 760 then Crossman made a 22cal pump all wood can't remember the name of it.

There's a few here's One from a bow hunter practice practice and more practice. Here's one I tell new hunters don't over analyze there deer. One more you can fool there eyes and there ears but the nose knows everything.

I know they when I got married, we pay by the plate so there were technically there no leftovers. But the desserts like leftover cakes and cookies from the cookie tray went home with us or guest. If you paid a cater to bring food to say a lodge or something like that any leftovers are yours.
