  1. Same here . I put the cams out to get photos of wildlife . By the time hunting season rolls around , food sources are changed or gone and the deer travel differently .
  2. Stopped at the Webster Wal_mart for some cat food and found myself in the Sports Dept . * picked up a 2 pack of Realtree Wool Blend thermal socks for $5 * 10 pack of Hothands body warmers for $2.50 . I need to find a kidney belt that would hold one of these to use during gun season . *Mossy Oak mesh facemask for $2.50 *Bought the last "Pocket Juice" portable charger for $5 They had some camo thermal mittens that has a pocker for a hand warmer . The lower part of the mitten folds back to expose glove fingers . Nice concept . They were only $9 but I have several pair of hunting gloves and don't wear them .
  3. Welcome to Hunting NY .........
  4. The area in blue is about 1/3 of my SILs 68 acre property . To the North and West are wooded areas . There is a large ditch on the West side of the property .The area in red is a lot of overgrown scrub trees . Not many big trees in the red area except near the middle . The Yellow dot is about 10 yards into what my son wants to make a sanctuary . He hunts the property maybe 3 times during gun season and I hunt the property 15 - 20 times between Bow , Gun and ML . I have had quite a bit of success on the Geneseo property . My oldest son has property in Italy Valley that he hunts as well as properties close to where he lives . I will be 76 this coming season so I am not all that much into a total deer sanctuary . Time is running out . The pond blind on the map is no longer good as the the guy that farms the land pushed much of the brush back so the deer no longer travel their previous route past the blind and go through the thick area . My youngest son shot a doe and a buck from the double stand in the woods on opening day of gun season this past season . I prefer having the deer get use to a blind but I have killed deer anywhere from same day to weeks later after installing one . Same goes for ladder stands . Trees in the thick stuff are small diameter and shooting lanes would have to be made . That is pretty much unnecessary with a ground blind that would blend into the background . And to reiterate , it would only be about 10 yards into the thick area . It would be an ideal spot for a pistol shot . That reminds me . I have to recheck the scope on my Contender 7-30 waters pistol . As for spooking the deer . I have had deer walk the same trails that I have gone on and walked up to the game cameras . .
  5. My oldest son wants to leave the area inside the red lines in the map below as a Sanctuary . I placed a camera where the yellow dot is inside the red border where trails meet in the thick stuff . If I see action on that camera I am considering placing a Dog House Blind or a Double Chair blind in that area . I would put something there at least 2 weeks before gun season and use it for pistol hunting . We would stay out of that area during bow season and gun season except for the blind .
  6. It might just be that the fox is Mooning the trail cam !
  7. Red Fox took a dump in front of the camera
  8. Why not just say " let's give that SOB a fair trial and then hang his butt " ! Then again , that might give you contempt of court .
  9. My sons and I get crop damage permits and can shoot deer until 11pm . We quit before it gets dark. We don't take any chances of an accident . Coyote hunting is 24 hours a day and lights are allowed . I wouldn't care to be shooting in the dark .
  10. The Dodge Aspen didn't have a release inside the car . All you had to do was reach in the front vent and push the release .
  11. I would no longer dare do that . I lost a spare key to a Subaru Forester and it cost me almost $200 to replace it . The keys a laser cut and also have to be programmed to the vehicle . I locked my keys in a Dodge Aspen that I had bought used . It was winter . I had started the car and got out to clear the windows . I must have hit the door lock . Walked back into the plant and got a hanger and was able to unlock the car after several tries and freezing my hands . Had a backup key made . A friend suggested putting it under the air cleaner . I unscrewed the cover to the cleaner , took out the cleaner and you guessed it , they was already a spare key . Duh !!!
  12. I could imagine that old guy hitting a bump , have the deer hooves catch the spokes and go ass over tea cup !
  13. Germane isn't with us any more . She was banned from the site .
  14. My daughter told my son in law to get a bunch of Celery at the store on his way home . He brought home a bag of celery . We never let him live that one down !
