  1. I used my Milwaukee heated jacket this am . The battery lasted about 3 hours . I put a recharged one in at 1 pm but didn't turn it on . Instead , I grabbed my sleeping bag , put it over my shoulders and was comfy warm . It blocked the wind at my back also . Gettin older - gettin smarter !
  2. I plan to arrive at my spot in Marion around 6 am . Get my gear out and walk slow to the stand . I will only have to walk about 200 yards . I should be in the stand by 6:30 and legal time to shoot is 6:59 by the chart in the Regs Booklet .
  3. At 73 I have kinda had it with the cold . I used to be able to stand it better before having a Kidney Stone operation but now I get cold fairly easily . It's going to be in the 20's tomorrow am and I am going to try out my Milwaukee heated jacket and see if it helps . I bought backup batteries for it so I should be in good shape . You can kiss old school goodbye !
  4. Sometimes it takes them a while to see the light ! Congrats
  5. I did the space bar thing with an Edit so the link shows . Some awesome bucks in the pics and several from Livingston County .
  6. It probably has WNYBuckkHunter's name on it .............
  7. Uhhhhhhh , it could be a "Gated Community" .....
  8. When I saw the Topic ( Picked up a nice Savage for the wife ), I thought you had made a trade .
  9. Happy Birthday GMan ..............
  10. Belo -- I have a Winchester 12 ga that I bought in 1965 . It has the trigger guard safety that makes a noticeable click then taking the safety off . I use my thumb and finger to move it and that pretty much silences it .
  11. The guy said it had well over 40 ticks on it and he didn't want them in his garage as they can be dormant for over a year before they need another host . I should have asked him to take pics .
  12. While I was in my stand this afternoon I got a call from a friend . He said he had shot a doe , field dressed it and took it home . He felt something , looked at his hand and saw a bug and realized it was a tick . He flicked it off and realized it was a tick and checked out the deer close . He told me that there was at least 40 of them on the deer and he saw a couple that were huge . He wanted to know what to do with the deer and I wasn't sure . I think I would have used a couple of 3mil bags and double bagged that deer and put it in the garbage . I told him to check his hunting clothes and anything else he came in contact with and to buy some Permethrin to use in the future . I have been lucky enough to have never seen any ticks on a deer . How would you dispose of a Tick infested deer ?
  13. Was in my stand by 6:30 after placing a couple of scent wicks . The only sighting was a small buck and a button buck between 7 and 8 am . Nothing after that . Got down from the stand and walked up the hill to my car . Had some coffee and a couple of granola bars . Moved to my old stand along the trail with my back to the gulley . Sat there until 4 pm and figured I had enough of nothing for one day and left . As i took my release off , the nut that holds the trigger arm fell off . What the heck ! What else could go wrong ? I found out later when I got to the car that I had left my seat pad on the stand . I wasn't about to go back and get it . I took my backup release out of my backpack in case an opportunity arose while climbing the hill . Stopped off at the hardware store on the way home and bought a replacement nut ..... M5 ..... 65 cents . Fixed the broken release .
  14. Heading out for South Bristol in a few minutes to hunt with 2 of my sons . Looks a bit nippy at 36 degrees and a 5 mph south wind . Hope the deer are moving !
  15. Congrats ! Nice going ................
  16. Ready to get back at it tomorrow after being in the Poconos for a week . I had told my wife that I would take her someplace after having bow hunted for 4 weeks and she picked the Poconos . Made a trip to Cabelas in Hamburg , Pa and got out of there with only spending $70 on hunting stuff . Saw a lot of dead deer on Rt 81 on the way home . Going to be heading to South Bristol tomorrow am and hunt with 2 of my sons . Saw a lot of deer on a golf course while near Lake Harmony . On our way back home we swung over to my son's house in Honeoye Falls . He was in the process of unloading a doe he shot with a borrowed cross bow on RT 251 in Mendon . Anxious to get back out there .
  17. Awesome job Grow ! Help the needy .
  18. What's so new ? Manufacturers started out with bows that had 2 wheels . They went on to make 1 cam and 2 cam bows . Now a manufacturer is once again making 2 wheel bows . This is innovation ? Enlighten me please !
