There is an active QDMA in the Italy Valley just south of Potte in Yates County . I have attended a couple meetings but havn't hunted that area in about 3 years . They have a pretty good size membership . QDM Co-op Members, Our annual member meeting will be held on Saturday, August 25th starting at noon. The meeting will be held at the new Huber facility - 920 W. Swamp Road, Middlesex. This year’s meeting is open to members from all four of our sub-Co-ops: Italy Valley, Benton, Milo-Barrington and South Hill. As always there will be no cover charge to attend. The finalized meeting agenda will be provided in early August, but current plans are as follows: v Lunch provided featuring hamburgers, hot dogs, salads and beverage v QDM cornerstones/basics, past year’s Co-op results & trends, winners of last season’s Big Buck & Doe contests announced v Slide show and discussion of some of our local buck’s year-to-year antler progression v Trespass Law, posting, protecting hunting lands, who/how to contact to report violators, etc. (presented by local law enforcement) v Legal recovery of wounded deer using dogs, what to look for after the shot, how to contact tracking resource, etc. 12 p.m. August 25th – please save the date and we hope to see you there. A 1" loop is a bit long ..............I have a 28" draw and the loop just affects the anchor point .

I always carry a knife and have lost several . My latest is a Bear Grylls knife . I had to give up a knife when we went to Staten Island . They caught it on the scanner .

My wife called from the store yesterday afternoon and questioned her car thermometer 98 degrees . I looked at the outdoor digital thermometer and it read 102 degrees . So much for Lake Ontario keeping us cool !

I saw a home made video on a Southern Hog Hunt and you could see the hog running off with the arrow in the dark . It made the hog easy to find . If you get a pass through on a deer , it should make the arrow easier to find . If not , chances are the deer is going to break the arrow shaft running through the brush and you are out an extra $10 .

The Stryker Strykezone 380 at $749 was rated better than the Tenpoint Carbon Elite at $1699 . That was a surprise . The "Great Buy" is the Carbon Express Covert SLS at $599 and the least expensive bow , the Parker Tomahawk at $499 was rated 7th out of the 11 tested .

It only takes one spark to set the dry woods on fire . Some of those fires out west are allegedly started by someone throwing a cig butt out or sparks from a campfire .
-
Nice buck and he sure likes to pose for the camera .
-
One of the guys at our local Fastrac Station said they are going to start selling non-ethanol gas in the near future .

The August issue of Outdoor Life has write ups on 11 new compounds .

I heard it on the news up our way but havn't seen anything in writing .

I would be there . I have passed on spikes , forks and eaten my buck tags along with some doe venison .

You can make your own for about $3 each . Check the DIY forum .

The Government is stupid . We get 10 percent ethanol in our gas and it is supposed to be raised to 15 percent soon . It attracts moisture and ruins engines . You can purchase Sta-bil and Startron additives that help reduce damage caused by the junk put in the gas .. Ethanol is derived from corn . Farmers are planting more corn and shipping it to the ethanol manufacturers which creates a grain shortage and raises the price of beef . I believe the Ethanol Plants are Government subsidized . It's one vicious circle . No doubt small engine manufacturers and repair shops are making a killing with the crap that gets put into our fuel !
-
Welcome to Hunting NY . Make sure you have a lot of PopCorn handy !

I doubt that the farmers would bother to report any deer killed by their farm equipment and that any deer killed would be a part of any report .
-
Fawns aren't the only ones that succumb to farm equipment .......

We have only had a sprinkling here in Ontario . I was going to help my son take down some ladder stands and possibly put them up on other properties but he said it was raining in Honeoye Falls and didn't want to take a chance on one of us getting hurt by slipping on the ladders or him making his torn biceps muscle any worse .
