    I havn't turkey hunted in a few years but always marveled to the fact that deer would approach the decoys . Always wondered about using the decoys during bow season but never did use them , yet .

    Piffard in the southherntier ? C'mon red , it's western NY . I also used to live in Piffard and had relatives that lived there . There used to be a lot of accidents when folks would be haulin' butt down the hill and try to beat the train . A lot of houses were removed and they eliminated "dead man's curve" . There are a lot of deer on the other side of the fence on property that used to belong to Lucidol ( a chemical company ) .

    I worked at Kelly Brpthers Nursery in Dansville a couple summers when I was a kid ( many many years ago ) . The "budder" would make an upside down T in the bush , slice off a bud , slip it into the incision and it would be tied in with a straight piece of rubber which looked like a piece of rubber band that had been cut . By the time the rubber rotted , the bud would have taken hold .

    Wednesday night I got some Venison Backstraps out of the freezer to thaw out . I thawed out too much and we had to have them 2 meals in a row . Yum yum , especially with the Peppercorn-Garlic marinade .

    My son built one between 2 large oaks . He painted it with used motor oil in the spring to darken it . In less than a month , there was no odor . # of us have shot a few deer from it since then .

    When I was in the USMC ( '59-'63 ) we had some kinda crap that was in a bottle . It was for mosquitoes and when you perspired ,it would drip in your eyes . When you got a tick on you , you would take a hot cigarette and hold it up to the tick and that was the only way to get them to back out . I hated NC only because of the ticks , chiggers and sand fleas !
