  1. Those thing weigh more than horses . When traveling in New Hampshire , we saw many MOOSE CROSSING signs and that made you think . The people only outnumber the moose Four to One in Newfoundland , according to the article .
  2. Jason .... no bug deal . The thread has been dead for two months and deer season is over ........
  3. When you get to camp , just break out the gas powered leaf blower ..... : .. : ... : Tractor Supply has the Fly Traps that you could hang outside . You put some stinky stuff in there . It will draw the flies and some bees / hornets . Basically , it's like the fly jugs I remember seeing in barns when I was a kid but these are plastic , reusable and can be hung in a tree , etc .. http://www.tractorsupply.com/insect-bait-traps/captivator-fly-trap-2212174
  4. Thanks ! I will have to give that a try . As for the pads , I wonder how they could be replentished . Seems they could be soaked in repellant ,left to dry and reused . I don't really know . They make a pad to be used with a deer attractant .
  5. Retired from Xerox in 1998 after 35 years of service . I had been working a couple days a week installing / removing Real Estate signs but the market is sooooo bad that I havn't worked in over 3 1/2 months so I havn't had to climb over any snowbanks in 20 degree weather this year .
  6. The price I stated is from about 4 - 5 years ago . It has gone up quite a bit since then . My son bought an insert for his fireplace and burns wood . He brings it back from his property in Italy Valley . I guess it's working okay .
  7. I have at least 3 knives in my backpack . My favorite is a Ka-Bar with a 4" blade and the Gerber Metolius E-Z Open (for cutting open the deer) .
  8. I wish I could find the sheet I had several years ago . It had the cost of a new PU truck , new stove and pipe , chain saw , chain sharpening , gas , beer , cost to replace truck transmission , cost to replace rear window in truck twice plus shocks and springs . Fire in the house . Cost for repairs , etc ..It ran about $80,000 for the 1st year . It wasn't true but could have been .............
  9. I still have about 5 face cord of wood . Havn't bought any in about 4 - 5 years . The last time I bought wood , it cost me $500 for 10 face cord delivered . It took me a while to stack it . Whew !
  10. I bought a Marlin semi-auto M60 at WalMart a couple years ago for $105 . The guys at the Gun Show wanted $140 for the same 22 . I wanted to get one with a clip but got the tube fed model . I prefer the American Eagle hp's . I found the Remington ammo really dirties up the action and gave what I had of that away . I still have 1 1/2 bricks of the American Eagle ammo . The darned stuff goes for about $25 a brick now . Check Dicks for a deal on a 22 cal .
  11. We have a Fisher air tight in the house . I havn't used it in a couple years but should . I would load it up at night and it would have hot coals in the am and all the wood wouldn't be completely burned up . I wouid put a pan of water on it to add moisture to the air . I put a register in the upstairs hallway to get a better air flow and some heat up there . It works quite well . When we 1st bought it , I bought log loads , cut it to length and split it . Then I bought wood that was cut to length and split it ( by hand ) . Then I started buying , cut , split wood . That saved the wrists !
  12. The homeless guy has a better voice ....
  13. They are a pain in the neck . I used to worry about whether or not I closed the damper after loading it up and going somewhere . If you have a woodlot and can stay a year ahead of the need that helps . If you have to buy wood , it can be costly .
  14. How far is it from the camera in the bottom pics ?
  15. Soooooo , you're gonna keep asking the dog , "can you hear me now" ? Yeah Bruce , that will work ..... ;D
  16. I picked up 4 P-38 openers and a small pack . My youngest son would make a good Mom . He kept telling me not to touch stuff and pointing out the signs .
  17. I feed them the birdseed plus the suet . The darned cost of bird seed has doubled the past 2 years .
  18. The show was pretty mediocre . It was ahlf the size of what it was the last time I was there . It was my youngest son's 1st time there so he enjoyed it .
  19. After reading the responses to the story , it looked like one of out threads ! ??? ...
  20. It's amazing how much heavier those double 10 foot sheets are compared to the 8 footers ! It equates to 2 1/2 eight foot sheets .......but feels a lot heavier
  21. I am one of the lazy guys . I leave stands up , do some scouting and add new stands . You never know when one of the older stands might pay off as the deer change their travel patterns when the season starts up . It really kills me to set up the trail cam , get some pics , place a new stand , hunt from it and watch deer travel past one of my older stands ! http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/pissed.gif[/img]...http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/pissed.gif[/img]...http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/pissed.gif[/img]
