Rubber smell on new Burlys
fasteddie replied to zeke83's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
Take something like a couple of tomato stakes and stick them in the ground in a shady spot . Slide the boots on the stakes and let them air out for a couple days . After that you could spray them with some scent killer . No wait ........no scent killer ...... that might be some sort of enhancement ! ')'>http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/picker.gif[/img] Just kidding . TRy the Scent Killer if the smell persists . -
I have downed 4 deer with 4 shots . Never needed a 2nd shot but ...... I always reloaded before approaching the downed deer . I don't claim to be a good shot .... just lucky . I use the cheap TC sabots with the 240 gr Hornaday XTPs . I was amazed at the wallop these had on deer .

It sounds like a real nice setup they have there . -
Chlorophyll is NOT a performance enhancing drug . It is an effective deodorizer to reduce bad breath , urine , fecal waste and body odor . It helps neutralize the pollution that we breathe in and intake every day It helps reduce Toxins in your system It efficiently delivers magnesium and helps the blood in carrying the much needed oxygen to all cells and tissues And Steve ------ Make sure you don't wear any Scent Blocker Clothing , don't use any Scent Killer spray and shower with regular soap . Otherwise you would have a Performance Enhancing Advantage ! Most of the corn is still up in the areas that I hunt . It seems like they want to wait until everything dries out before cutting .

As for a treestand bow hanger , I bought one at Dick's at the end of season last year . It has 3 screw in adaptors that you can screw into trees . The hanger mounts on these so when you from from stand to stand , you leace the adaptors and just move the bracket . http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?i=401040&pdesc=HME_Products_Better_Bow_Hanger&aID=503H5&merchID=4006 -
Keep an eye out for his big brother !

I think Gander MT , etc have the Bohning Jig for about $30 . Cabelas is $35 http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0046464417928a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntt=bohning+jig&Ntk=Products&sort=all&Go.y=5&N=0&Nty=1&hasJS=true&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&Go.x=26&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form1

Bow Holder for tree and also one for your ATV, suggestions?
fasteddie replied to burmjohn's topic in Bow Hunting
I was going to ask the question about using a bow holder on an ATV as I have yet to transport my bow that way . I have seen the Gator Grips , etc .. I guess I would be concerned about what the vibration would do to the accessories ( sight , arrow rest , arrows , etc ) . I think I will stick to walking and use the ATV for retrieving . -
For anyone who shoots 3-D targets and has trouble pulling your arrows out , try this ..... take a soft cloth and spray some Armor All on it . Then wipe down the shaft from the middle to the target tip . It will make pulling the arrows out a breeze !

Governor signed the crossbow bill.
fasteddie replied to bpb's topic in NYS DEC News and Annoucements
If it fits into the guidelines for whats legal (read the bill, there are width and poundage guidelines), then good luck with it living up to their marketing hype. : Oh, and the huge price tag. Hype ? Are you implying the the folks that market the crossbows are dishonest ? C'mon , give me a break ! Huge price tag ? It's less than a social Security check ........ They probably won't be allowed into bow season until at least 2012 and there should be some big improvements in the technology by then . -
A guy in Groveland said he left his name and number with local farmers . He asked them to call him when they had a stillborn calf and he would pick it up . He said he would place it in a spot in an open field and stake it down with some fencing so the yotes wouldn't drag them off . He said it was a pretty productive way to get them to come in . Coyotes will eat stuff that smells so bad it would make you gag !

New Wood Stand Up, this time its just a three tree'r.
fasteddie replied to burmjohn's topic in Deer Hunting
Hopefully the bands will let the boards slide okay when it's windy . A lot of guys would have spiked the 2X6's to the tree and when the wind blew , they would have pulled out . A chain-on would have been cheaper but I bet your's will be more comfortable !
