I have donated deer in the past . I have no idea if any needy person ever got the meat though . The state pays the processor the cost of processing the deer so the taxpayers are paying for it .

I have passed on deer only to have someone on a neighboring property shoom them . But ........ you gotta do what's right for you .

I can't stand Hank Parker but I enjoyed "one" of his shows that was realistic . One of his sons was in a tent blind and couldn't figure out how he missed a chip shot . It finally dawned on him that his arrow was about 3" below his sight and he had accidentally shot through the side of the blind . Jacky Bushwacker wouldn't have admitted to something like that !

I'll stay in the metal ladder stand during a light rain but if I hear thunder i'm out of there as the lightning will soon follow . Don'y want to be 15' high on metal with lightning .

For gun hunting , my sons both use the Horton Knee Pod . It straps to your leg and is adjustable .

I have several ladder stands and like Viper I prefer to set them up where there are 2 - 3 trees close together . It gives me some cover and something to hang my backpack , etc on . Anything to get an edge . I have several ladderstands . I usually buy the single stands at Dicks when they have them on sale for $50 and I use a $10 coupon so they end up costing $40 plus tax . I use a cable lock on all of them also .

I have not used a Buck Decoy . Several years ago I set my MacKenzi target us go yards from my stand . Two doe came into an opening over 100 yards away . They headed right for it and were standing next to it . When one turned sideways , I drilled her . I had carried the decoy to the woods in one of those big orange garbage bags that get used for road trash pickup . I set the MacKenzi up 20 yards from another stand . I had it facing away as I was told that a buck would approach it from the rear .I used the doe bleat can . A 6 point came down the lane-way and was 3' from it looking at it's face so he was facing me . Apparently the buck didn't read the same article that I had read . One of my sister in law's horses ran up to the fense , whinnied and the buck ran down the field . I couldn't get him to come cack but I was thinking that there was about 900 pounds standing on the other side of the fense ! I have tried the 2D doe decoys with no luck . I agree that does tend to shy away from the decoys on the most part . I figure I was just lucky the 1st time .

My sister in law used to gun hunt . She may go out once or twice a year now . Anyway , she has 69 acres in Geneseo . She would wear a pair of brown Carhart coveralls with a little blaze orange hat . She has made a few enemies by kicking tresspassers off of her property . I warned her that someone might "accidently" shoot her and at least got her to wear a Blaze Orange Vest . The carharts are about the same color as the deer .

Nov 10 , 2008 ( Marine corps birthday ) I shot a buck in Pittsford at about 35 yards . Complete pass through on both lungs . He ran about 50 yards down the field , stopped , turned around , wobbled and fell over sideways . I with I had gotten it on tape . If i'm sitting , I remain seated to avoid movement . I have a 10' ladder stand in the back yard to practice from . My backstop target is exactly 30 yards from and I have to portable targets that I can shoot at . Bending at the waist is an important factor when shooting from an elevated position . If you don't bend at the waist , you drop your bow arm and almost guarantee a miss .

My camera men kept screwing up my hunts so I don't take them with me anymore ! :

Maybe they will swim south for the winter ........ ???
