  1. Jay, I'm so sorry to see this. I'm in week 3 of this crap. My sister (a nurse) dropped off Childrens aspirin, vit d3, and super b complex. Plus some Musinex for the cough. She said this is what they are giving at the hospital. (plus other meds I'd need a script for) Unfortunately I gave it to my wife, (she's not happy about that). I never really had much of a cough, but the sinus headaches and pressure sucks! And fatigue is real! I had a fever for 3 days then started to feel better only to have it knock me down again. It's like a roller coaster ride, good 1 day and crappy next 3 days. I know it affects everyone differently, my wife was doing better and Saturday while I was hunting her fever came back and she ended up blacking out after her shower. Hit the floor and didn't know how long she was out! Dr said it could have been a seizure? Told her if that happens again she needs to call 911. Fortunately her fever broke and she is feeling better. We both tested positive so the county called us for contact tracing, they told us that because we are more than 10 days since symptoms that we are no longer contagious. Funny because it was a few days later when my wife got really sick! We cancelled any plans for Thanksgiving, and will just stay home. This virus is spreading like crazy and it won't be long before WNY is in shut down mode again. You can see how easy it spreads, now it going back to NY (Biz)! I managed to hunt on Saturday only to sleep 12 hours on Sunday and Monday i was still very tired. Google breathing exercises with covid, my sister said you really need to do this to prevent it from becoming pneumonia. Stay strong my friend you will beat this! And I pray that the spread has stopped with you and no one else in your household gets it.
  2. I went out yesterday to a spot I have killed a buck mid day twice in last 2 years. Sat noon to dark and didn't see a deer. Wind was constantly changing directions. That had to be it? Felt good just to be out as this covid crap is still knocking me down. Good luck to those out there.
  3. Thats my xbow buck from last year 11-11. I have trail cam pic of him on 10-31 with all 4 points still there on his left side!
  4. If only I could remember half of those hunts! Lol
  5. I finished my euro and put him up on the garage wall with the rest. I definitely like the look of the skull with that 40% peroxide treatment. Much cleaner than just boiling them. I've also started leaving the tag on them as I can't remember the details anymore and it at least tells me the year, weapon, and town of the kill.
  6. Belo, I had a similar experience with a buck snort wheezing. Last day of bow season I shot a nice 10 pt at 8am. I must have hit a branch as i gut shot him and therefore I knew i was in for a long wait b4 I started to track him. So 2 hours later I'm still sitting in my stand as it was a beautiful day and I was not in any hurry to go anywhere when all of a sudden I spot this buck coming towards me, at 1st I thought it was my buck coming back so I readied to try and get another arrow in him. Well it wasn't him but a HUGE 8 pt! As he got close to where the buck i shot was standing he started to snort wheeze! It was so loud and he snorted at least 10x! It took me a minute to realize what the hell was going on but he was trying to call out my buck for a fight! I think I went right out that night and bought a snort wheeze call. Unfortunately I've never had the perfect scenario to use it since? But what an experience it was!
  7. Congrats TF! nice buck! Kudos to you Greg for convincing TF come down at the spur of the moment! Another nice buck taken because you insisted on a hunter going out, hell you probably told him what stand to sit in. Does this sound familiar? It's like what you told me when I shot that 10 pointer at your place! And once again Mr J shoots a buck and someone shoots a bigger one! Some things never change! LOL
  8. There's no rush, I'm not going back to Chautauqua till this weekend. But I will definitely want to give them a try. I can swing by your office now that the County says I'm not contagious anymore!
  9. Thanks for the generous offer! I have 2 boxes of Remington in 165 and 180 gr. those don't pattern well in this gun. Who knows maybe the Federals will be different?
  10. Way to go! Congrats! That's an awesome buck! that pic with all 3 generations will look great on the wall next to the mount!
  11. Keep an eye on the little rubber seal where the tank attaches to the mr buddy. I had one crack and propane leaked and it blew up in flames! I had to toss it in the snow bank b4 it made the tank explode! I am afraid to buy another!
  12. I don't know the production date but mine is an older model 700 bdl? Walnut stock. Definitely not a newer model like a 770.
  13. I know that there is a real ammo shortage especially here in NY with the "safe act" but, my Remington 700 really likes the Hornady 30-06 SPRG 180 gr SST. and I'm down to my last 3 shells! I tried shooting some other loads but they are all over the place. Does anyone know where I can find some or what might be a reasonable replacement? I did a google search and every site I saw said out of stock! Bad on me for waiting so long to try and pick up some bullets! In my defense I've been hunting 9F for several years and only use my blackpowder gun. just recently started back in Chautauqua Co. where I can use my rifle again. Thanks,
  14. Welcome aboard! You'll love it here. A lot of great people here. Stick around you'll see
  15. Buddy found this buck 40 yds behind my stand that I shot my buck from. It's a shame to see 1 go to waste.
  16. That's great Dan! You don't know what you're missing! My wife and are both tested positive, got her results yesterday. Although i already knew she was going to test + also. 12 days into it for me and still not much change. Headaches, fatigue and sinus pressure that just won't go away.
  17. I have a 1/2 hp grinder from gander mtn. my wife gave me for xmas. It works pretty good but i will say that if you can afford it go with the 3/4 hp from Cabellas that lawd mentioned. It is much better. I've done probably 2-3 deer a year for 5+ years with no problem, you just have to partially freeze the chunks b4 you grind them and that takes some extra time. Mine does have the sausage stuffer attachments but I don't use them much as I find it difficult to manage by myself. I use my jerky shooter with different tips for stuffing sausage. Takes longer but it's easier to control. imho.
  18. No one knows your stands better than you, go with your gut. But stay in as long as you can, it can change in a second. From the time I saw my buck till I shot was literally 15 seconds!
  19. Same, headache and chest pressure. Living vicariously though this thread!
