My turn to screw it up, today i went back to Farmersville and took the land owner with me. we got to where I thought the birds would be but because of the rain and fog it was quiet. so we sat and waited to see if we would see or hear any fly down and how long before it cleared up. Well at 6 am the rain stopped and almost immediately to fog moved off the hill and boom 2 separate gobbles! They were to my left and over the ridge so I made the fatal mistake to move to try and get closer, and sure enough there was another bird closer than I expected and it started putting loud at us. No more gobbles, and about a half hour later I saw 2 birds pitch out and away from us. Waited about an hour and started moving in their direction but the rain started back up and we decided tomorrow would be a better day to go after them.

I had a shot at one of the Jakes, but I wasn't going to shoot a jake with a long beard 10 yards behind him.

I'm in Farmersville today, had 3 jakes at 40 yds. LB behind them. They worked around me and up the hill. At 1 time i could have shot 3 birds, damn LB never gave me a shot. They all went up on posted land. Great to actually hear sone gobbling!

Come on guys, isn't anyone hunting this morning? This is my go to thread for Sunday morning reading while I'm out of town. I'm feeling left out. Sorry, it's my phone, it just updated, rant over!

Concrats Cynthiafu ! and great job Bill! I had 1 going yesterday at first light, gobbled 20+ times and walked away from me. I never got as close as I wanted because i was pretty sure he was roosted on the side of a ridge opposite me and i would bump him if i tried to get any closer. I went to my blind on a field edge as they frequent this field. Stayed till 9, had 1 lone hen come out and feed for 20 minutes. I think Bill is correct, the hens are starting to hit the nests. At 10:30 I started to head back to the roost site and I got a gobble, he was already there! I called him close, not "IN" as he went 80yds below me. He gobbled 2 more times there so i scratched leaves and waited, next time he gobbled he was heading back to the roost site. So i moved in that direction, he gobbled again ahead of me so I set up and did some soft calls and waited till 12, he never gobbled again? Oh well, best action I've had in days! I couldn't believe it was noon already! Going to visit my daughter in Baltimore so i don't expect to hunt again till next Wednesday. I''ll get my fix by reading this blog each morning. Good luck people and keep the stories coming!

Bird gobbled 20x and next time i hear him he's headed away. Time to go sit in my blind on a field they frequent. They will be here eventually, hopefully b4 12

Good thing these are are only access for "storage " as they don't meet code! Don't let the local authorities know about this. I was never there and that's what ill say in court!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. I had a nice day staying home and watching it snow on and off all day! Treated myself to a steak pizza from Sorrentino's and a couple of Rusty Chains!

While picking up a turkey for this Thanksgiving, I overheard this gem. A lady was picking through the frozen turkeys, but she couldn't find one big enough for her family. She asked a stock boy, "Do these turkeys get any bigger?" The stock boy replied, "No ma'am, they’re dead."

Eddie, I hope all goes well and she heals up quick. Good luck!

Sorry Tacks! I had the same scenario but I took my time, had to wait for him to get close, dropped him at 45 yds as the hens were leaving and he would have followed them away from me. I'll post some pics later. Photos aren't loading.

You'll have to check the tires for dry rot if it's been sitting for a long time.
