Last night in Maui, went to Fat Daddy's BBQ, had the brisket with Mac and cheese, and deviled eggs. Very good! Washed it down with a couple of Island lagers.

Just came back from the Old Lahaina Luau. Pig cooked underground, mahi, island crab salad, island chicken, Poi, Uala, taro leaf stew, and lots of other stuff I can't remember! I don't think I can eat for a week! And plenty of Mai- Tai's!

Thank God, I hated the doe only last year in 9F. I know a lot of guys went to southern tier just so they could take a buck. I Hunt mostly 9f but I prefer to leave the does to go into heat, that brings the big guys out of hiding!

I know this topic has been around a while but I am a little confused trying to make sure my bow is properly tuned. I have a 2013 Elite Hunter, set at 65# 29" draw shooting 410 gr.arrows including 100 gr. heads. When I bought the bow it had new winners choice strings and cables, I had it set up for me by Roy at Nicks' Archery and he paper shot it and perfect tear. When I paper shoot it I keep getting a high right tear. Roy says it is my form and I need more thumb pressure? So after reading a lot on this subject today I finally tried walk back tuning. I'm getting better arrow flight as i don't seem to get the occasional drifters or corkscrewing flight. Tried the paper tune again and now I just get a slight 1" or less tear to the right. I think I'm on the right path now I just need to get out and practice more. Confidence in my shooting is going to be key to hunting, I hate to go out not being absolutely sure I can make a shot when the time comes.

I left my cameras out all year. I moved 2 of them to the new food plots I just planted so I could keep an eye on what if any frequent the plots. Here is a couple of pics from the cards that were in the cameras before I moved them. The buck in the front is the same in both pics, but the rear deer is 2 different bucks. 1 has a drop tine on his right side!

I planted wildlife clover mixed with turnips last night. Hoping for rain in the next few days as predicted by weather forecast. Today I get up and the weather man has changed the forecast and the rain looks like it's going to miss my area? Now I'm concerned, how long can the seed sit and still germinate or if it starts to germinate only to dry right up w/o adequate rain fall?

Will we be able to fast forward to the first unread post when we open a forum? Or am I just missing something? thanks.

another bow rack

Sorry not for sale, I just do these as donations to my archery club and for the NWTF banquet. Maybe in a couple of years when I retire I might start to make some for sale to help with income? we'll see. -

Finished to bow rack! Not sure I like the gloss finish, but I'm not sanding it done again in my 85* shop! -

Just need to sand between a couple more coats of poly and it's done! -
In the process of building another bow rack to donate to the archery club for their Tradition Shoot in August. I think this will be the 5th or 6th one I've done. Each year I try to do something different but this year I went basic. I still need to do some sanding and then 3-4 coats of wipe on poly and it will be ready. I used cherry so I plan on just clear varnish as I love the look of clean cherry.

country style pork. Looked like a few boneless chops and pieces. Did a dry rub, set it fridge for 8 hours, cooked on the grill low and slow, then turned up the heat and basted with Dino sauce to blacken. fresh corn on the cob.. Yum!

Well I got the 2 plots all tilled up and added the line. I'm going to wait till next week and hit it again with round up. Hopfully I can get it planted around August 5th. -
My sister in law would make a stir fry with deer heart and serve it over egg noodles, it was great. If she hadn't divorced my brother I probably would have the recipe.

Just went through the same thing, larry. My wife had surgery and I had to do a lot of the housework including the laundry. I shrunk one of her blouses! OPPS! Well every thing is back to normal again and I just have to wash my hunting and hockey stuff. Cuz she won't touch that stuff!

People who get on the thruway (or any 2-3 lane highway) and intermediately pull into the far left lane and park it. It's like i'm here to set the speed limit and screw all the rest of you! They act like they don't have a rear view mirror! Another one; has anyone else noticed how many brand new Cadillac's are out there that don't have working turn signals?

Thanks Jeager, I plan on doing the first disc this week. I can hit it with round up next week. I will be out of town for the first 14 days of August so I hope to get it planted by 3rd week of August? Hope Mother nature cooperates! -

Yes, Jason worked at the town in our planning department for a few years before returning to the family business. I worked with him on a lot of projects. Very knowledgeable guy when it comes to agriculture and deer management. I believe he also ran the Bait and shoot program for the town. -

I dug up some soil and went to Shamel Milling in E. Concord today. Turns out I know the owners son! They did the soil test for free and it appears my soil is on the acidic side. I'll need to put in a ton of lime. Literally a ton! I picked up about half of the lime and got some wildlife meadows mix (mostly clover) plus I got some Ground Hog radish seed to mix in. I'll need to work up the soil and add the limestone. Then I will wait and plant it 2-3 week of August. Wish me luck! -
Sahlen's hot dogs on the grill, on Martin's potato rolls. I had to try the Martin rolls after seeing some posts here and they are worth the extra$. Left over cauliflower with cheese sauce and bacon.

WOW! you need a Scott Pack just to check the temperature of the meat!

Any idea where I can get soil tested? I was reading about soil test kits and it sounds like they are a waste of time. I see that Cornell has a program for testing anyone use this program? Thanks -
I have always wanted to put in some food plots but for 1 reason or another I just never get it done. well I was able to borrow a tractor with a brush hog and I mowed an nice spot in the inside corner of an overgrown field. I raked up the dead grasses, as best I could, I only had a hand rake and I have the blisters to prove it! Then I hit it with a dose of round up. I'll give it a couple of weeks and then cultivate it and put in some Purple top Turnips. Hope we get some rain soon or nothing will grow!
