  1. Venison hot dogs with Jalapenos and cheese on the tailgate grill. About 12 of us stayed after hockey and grilled in the parking lot. All washed down with a "couple" of beers. Great way to start the holiday weekend!
  2. Fresh batch of snack sticks going in the smoker right now. No pics, sorry, if you need pics just check out my post on this thread on February 27, 28. They look the same!
  3. Larry, I looked last night , no luck I must have tossed it. Sorry but the offer still stands if you need we can build one.
  4. Larry I may have the box from my GT500, if not I have lots of good cardboard and we can just make a box to fit it. I've made boxes before to store some of my xmas decorations etc. It's easy.
  5. We almost sunk my sister's boat last year in Seneca Lake! the plug was in, turns out the transom was shot and leaking around the out-drive. It was a slow enough leak that the bilge pump was able to keep up. But there was something shorting out and draining the battery, so my sister decided to disconnect the battery while docked. The dock master called her about an hour later telling her she'd better get down here quick your boat is sinking! We bailed it out got it on the trailer, checked it out. It was a slow enough leak that you could use the boat but we didn't trust it. We had the transom replaced, very expensive, but I didn't want to tackle that job myself. It's a good thing we did because the wood behind the fiberglass was totally rotten and that is the only thing supporting the outdrive! The boat is back in the water this year and running great. I needed to replace the starter and the bilge blower as they got wet and corroded.
  6. I stopped at Cabellas in Mitchell SD, ( I though it was in Sioux Falls Sd) on my way to Sturgis in 2005. It was the biggest hunting & fishing store I had ever seen! The Cheektavegas store is nothing compared to the others. The only good thing is if you need something right now they probably have it.
  7. ...rob, i hear ya on the thunder storm, we got caught in a real severe storm camping with the kids years ago in the Rockies. Those storms can destroy a tent in no time!
  8. I may take you up on that Larry. I checked online and found some on Ebay for around $12 with ship. Also saw one listed at Harbor freight for $5 but, well you know my thoughts on HF crap. Probably order 1 on ebay just to have with on camping trips.
  9. Thanks Larry, I could use that to fix my ripped hockey bag!
  10. Father's day dinner, had home made mac and cheese layered with homemade pulled pork,Dino sauce, topped with FF onions. Then baked to a nice crisp! Roasted corn on the cob. It was delicious, sorry once again no pics. And of course a couple of Flying Bison Buffalo Koelsh.
  11. Great, I was hoping this weather would be good for the new poults. We certainly need a good hatch.
  12. Went to Mississippi Mud's for hot dogs and cheese fries w/BACON! Had to try the buffalo wing mac and cheese, a little disappointing. About a tablespoon of oil on the bottom.
  13. Ok broke down bought a slicer at cabela's. Sliced thin it makes a great samwich.
  14. Ok i tried it using a couple of small top round roasts. They cooked up good but I feel they came out a little dry. I will make up some aujus and try it an a sandwich. The problem I am having is getting nice thin slices, I need to invest in a decent meat slicer. I can't get a real thin slice by hand or with an electric knife and it is a little chewy if sliced too thick. Taste is great though. Sorry no pics, I just don't thick of taking pics until it's too late.
  15. I've seen them but I believe I carry enough stuff with me already I really don't need to add anymore weight. The one thing I can not go into the turkey woods without is my little seat. And my thermacell of course!
  16. Here you go ... http://grilling24x7.com/maryland-style-pit-beef/
  17. Any one ever have a pit beef sammy from the Baltimore area? They are awesume! I've been researching how to make it and I am going to give it a try on my smoker, may have to do it with real beef but I will probably through in a venison roast as well. Curious as to how they will differ? Any one ever try this? any suggestions?
  18. I've seen turkeys roosting behind Daemon College along Getzville Rd. Years ago, they make a living hitting all the bird feeders in the back yards from Main st to sheridan dr.
  19. I 've done the venison roast in the crock pot, I believe I got the recipe from someone on this site? I slice an onion and place it on the bottom of the crock pot. take the roast and do a dry rub (I use Dine BBQ dry rub) Place in crock pot and add water to just cover, set on high for 8 hours. I pull the roast drain most of the liquid, pull the roast apart place back in crock pot and add Sweet baby Ray's sweet and Spicy. goes great on rolls I add Bread and Butter pickles in lieu of slaw.
  20. Reeltime, you have a spot in Ohio to hunt near Toledo? My younger brother lives in Waterville, south of Toledo, He doesn't hunt but 1 of his boys is interested in hunting. I went to Ohio last year and took them out turkey hunting at Maumee state forest. We actually got on a bird but another hunter came in and screwed it all up! Good luck with the scouting, from what I've heard there are tons more turkeys in all those states.
  21. Bill's Pulled pork and brisket is the best next to my own of course. Is it true he is going to open a permanent place, not just the seasonal place he's been using? Very disappointing driving out there only to find out he closed early.
  22. Does any one in the WNY area use turkey wing bones and/or wing feathers? I used to give my turkey wings to a friend who gave them to Skip Perry, but my friend passed away and I don't want to see them go to waste. PM me if you are interested.
  23. Happy Birthday! I don't know you but any one with hockey in their name has to be a great guy!
  24. Thanks, Turkeyfeathers! Here's the stats: 18.5 lbs. 9 5/8" beard, and 7/8",15/16" spurs. Ants, funny you should mention shed antlers, I found a half 8pt yesterday and today I found a basket rack half 8 pt. Today I saw 2 bucks running together both had 2-3" spikes, and later on my 9-10 am walk I saw a real nice buck, he was up to his ears!
