  1. Happy Birthday Biz! enjoy your cake.
  2. Happy Birthday Philo! have a cold one on me.
  3. Great reading! As many have said there are + and - with all types. I use a Summit Viper a lot, it is the most comfortable stand I own. I pre scout several areas and limb out some trees pre-season so I can use the climber. I also have a lot of hang on stands that I use with ladder sticks. I always place a life line at each hang on stand and wear a full body harness. I now have 2 ladder stands one I rebuilt to have a flip up seat (there are pics somewhere on this site?) and the other is a cheap one from Field & Stream with a flip up seat. I like to stand up and hug the tree for concealment and most ladder stands seam to have fixed seats. So I guess I would have to check all 3 categories. I set all my stands pretty much by myself so I have learned over the years to 1. be carefull, I always wear a full harness when setting them up. 2. ladder stands are a PIA to set up by yourself but ropes and extra ratchet straps help a lot. 3. like G-man said the best stands are where the deer are! and finally 4. you can never have too many stands! or enough time to hunt them all.
  4. Had to clean out my garage, made a bottle run to consumers, picked up a 12 of Flying Bison's Buffalo IPA, Aviator Red, and Rusty Chain. I deserve a break!
  5. I call a good buddy with a rope and a good flashlight! Thanks, Lawd!
  6. Biz that looks like my lip only I caught a puck! Had to drink a little slower for a couple of days!
  7. Hairy or downy? They are very similar. http://www.audubon.org/news/how-tell-hairy-woodpecker-downy-woodpecker
  8. Good luck!! Hoping for the best.
  9. Fish fries are like chicken wings, only good if you eat them there. never the same after you put them in a styrofoam container!! yuk
  10. Phade, those cameras are awesume, they even predict the future! LOL
  11. Chopped Baked potato with pulled pork, Dino sauce, peppercorn ranch dressing, some bacon, and nacho cheese. I forgot the FF onions!
  12. Went to Buffalo Dino BBQ last night, had Wango Tango wings with BBQ rice and chowder. And if course a couple of Dino Porter's!
  13. not to side track this thread but my wife has been using her digital camera to video old 8m family films and loading them on the computer, she is going to make cd's of them to give to all her siblings. Like Steve D said you can probably find a good used vcr at Goodwill or the Amvets stores, or C-list. I think I sill have a 19" tv with a built in vcr PM me, you can have it.
  14. Had to make some more venison bites! Turkeyfeathers I think you created a monster! I've been making these every week, venison or turkey both are great.
  15. I've gone through several $150 grills in the last 10-15 years, all pieces of crap. I now have a Weber Genesis and love it. i got it used 9 years old for free, put in $80 for parts and gave it a good cleaning. I was told I could get the burners replaced for free as Weber guarantees them for 10 years. I didn't bother as they are in fine condition. Really well built compared to the made in china grills.
  16. Pizza last night, Alfredo sauce, shrooms, black olives, chicken, and I added some venison pepper stick instead of pepperoni.
  17. I got some high temp cheese at black Angus, these turned out great!
  18. Yes the cream cheese is easy, just buy a block of c. Cheese and chop up jalapenos. I used pecan chips on advice from a friend, I don't think you need to smoke them as bacon has a little smoke flavor already.
  19. I got the drawers made, just need to put on the faces
  20. I first tried it with some left over back strap and it was awesome! I've since tried it with steak/roast and some of the pieces were a little chewy, but not too bad. Recently i tried it with wild turkey breast and it was great. i used the same dry rub ( dino cajun) I now make my own Jalapeno cream cheese as is is a lot cheaper and i can add as much peppers as I like. I've done some in the smoker but I thought it was too smokey, now I just use the oven.
  21. OK for all you guys who make your own sausage I have a question? I'm going to smoke up some snack(pepper) sticks this weekend and I was thinking of adding cheese to them. Any idea if i have to use high temp cheese or can I just use any cheddar or pepper jack cheese? I got to thinking of adding the cheese yesterday when I finished my last pack of venison hot dogs. With cheese and Jalapenos in them. I don't know if I can find high temp cheese locally. I looked on line and I can order it but I don't want to wait for shipping. Plus it is pricey! I might try Black Angus as I know they make their own sausage maybe I can get some from them?
  22. yes I had some red oak trees milled several years ago and let it air dry. I'll probably stain it with Early American stain and lots of coats of wipe on poly. Thanks all, I'll keep the pics coming.
