The food may not have been the best but at least you got your truck washed!

sorry I was off line, the pic was taken next to the Williamsville fire hall on sheridan dr.
-
this pic was taken in Williamsville, non hunting area. I know there was an almost totally white 6 pointer in the area a few years ago, and I've seen a couple of piebald deer in the area, but this deer looks black and white. Anyone ever seen anything like this?

2012_taco replied to Lawdwaz's topic in Turkey Hunting
here's a pic of a beardboard i put together for the last turkey banquet. I had a piece of firewood that i noticed had some spalting in it so I chopped it up into a 16" board and threw this together. -

Maytom, do you do your own wood working? those boards look nice. I may steal your ideas for a raffle prize for next years turkey banquet. -
I don't have a big smoker, I just fit about 7 lbs. of sticks in at a time. I just lay them on the racks, not enough room to hang them. Taste the same when done! I just re read this, lets keep it clean guys.

I took my brother and nephew out last spring, we went to Maumee state forest. It is actually several different blocks of state land, we were able to locate a couple of birds but we got bumped twice by other hunters. The birds there seemed to be very educated to hunters. they would come in but hung up. turns out there was a swamp between us, who knew? that's part of not knowing the terrain, next time I would approach it differently.

I have a propane smoker and it works great with a reducing valve installed in line to lower the temp. I've done pork, venison, and chicken with great results. My question is can I do some fish without it stinking up the smoker?

I too have dry fired my bow! 2X! I did it at an indoor shoot at Allied Sportsman's club. I was new to the league and got caught up concentrating on the next target and totally forgot to knock an arrow! Man it was loud! No damage to the bow, that says alot about the quality of Martin bows! I actually shot the bow for a couple of years before I replaced it with a new Elite. On a side note, Lawd I recall Jim's, Cap's,Leo's, but I always did good at Nick's so that is where most of my pay checks went!

Any chance you can post the recipe? I would love to try to make chick pot pie

Yes I use ground, mix my own ingredients, been doing it this way for years. Turns out great Lawdwaz can vouch for it.

My wife and I camp 2-3 times each year. Usually Columbus day weekend is the end of camping for the year. We always stay in our 3 room tent but last October we rented a cabin in Parker Dam State Park, Pa. It was great and we are planning on going again this Columbus day weekend. We bring our motorcycles and do day trips to see the elk herd.

The wife and I saw it yesterday, it's a great suspenseful movie! I didn't know anything about Hugh Glass till I read this blog, thanks guys for all the background and links. Those mountain men were definitely tougher than I am, I was freezing just watching the movie!

Field and Stream Store

Rumor mill has the old Dick's store on Maple Rd in Amherst is going to be a Field and Stream? They moved Dick's to the Boulevard Mall. We'll see -
It's gone, I almost saved the cushions, I though as i carried it out that the cushions might make a good archery target? They are made of a dense foam and if I shrink wrapped them together it would probably make a good arrow stop.
