  1. Great videos of some nice bucks. Interesting that they don't work the scrape but they all work the licking branch.
  2. I sold my 5+ year old Elite GT500 completely set up for $350. I wish I never sold it, but i wanted a new bow and needed the cash to make it work. I bought a year old Elite Hunter for $600 with the elite quiver. It is quieter, shorter, very smooth draw cycle, but it is slower that the GT by 26 fps. The speed disappointed me, other than that they are both great bows. Good luck with your search.
  3. You should check it for temp with a probe thermometer. Smoke for 1st hour and then just heat to an internal temp of 155. That always works for me when I make snack sticks. Great now I'm going to have to make some. See what you started!!
  4. Thanks for the memories! I remember reading those old OL and F&S magazines when I spent the summers at my uncle's cottage on Cayuga lake. Although by sept 1970 I was probably l spending more time looking at his hidden collection of playboy mags!!!
  5. Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and you get what you wanted under the tree(or wherever you wanted to get it) Merry Christmas!!! TIm
  6. Lawd I feel your pain, I have been thinking for a while now what to get my wife for xmas.(at least since the end of deer season) I haven't come up with much either. I aggravates me because during the year I will think of something that I believe would be a great gift and I don't write it down and now I don't have a clue what it was. I refuse to walk aimlessly at the MALL.
  7. Why would your neighbor feel guilty ?
  8. If Santa doesn't leave a trail camera under the tree I might just have to grab one of these before new years. Thanks
  9. Doc, are these the boots you are talking about? /www.rangerboots.com/Pages/Product.aspx?category=Rubber%20Insulated&cat=HLS-RANGER&pid=A229%20Forest%20Green I have a pair of these and they are the warmest boots I have ever worn, but thety do not have much in foot support and they are a little heavy. But fro a long sit they are great.
  10. I have been looking for a light weight seat for still hunting deer. Lately my leg starts going numb after standing or walking for only about an hour. I need to sit and give my back a rest, this looks like the perfect seat, lightweight, packs small enough to put in my game bag. Too bad there are out of stock, I'm sure Santa would love to give me one!!
  11. called cva today and sat on hold for 13 minutes waiting for a rep. Once i got through to a rep it took less than a minute and the parts are being shipped no charge! Their customer service is great but it took a long time to get through and I still have not had a reply to my original email. we'll see how long it takes to get the parts.
  12. it's been over 6 days still no reply. I assume they are closed for the holiday. I will send another email on Monday and hope for the best.
  13. Happy Thanksgiving to all!! Hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable day. Save some turkey for me.
  14. I have not had the same results with CVA customer service. I have an Optima and need to replace the bushing and firing pin assembly. (my own fault, I neglected to clean it properly and it has rusted) I went to their web site and found it difficult to navigate just to contact them to buy the replacement parts. Their web site only listed local dealers to contact to get parts. I went to Buffalo Gun Center( 1 of the local CVA dealers) and they want me to get them the part numbers and they will see if they can order it. So I went back to the web and finally found the contact info, sent an email asking about purchasing the parts and no reply in 2 days. I tried calling the telephone number today and sat on hold for 10 minutes before I gave up. I really like the rifle, I just want to replace the parts I screwed up.
  15. Nick's sporting goods on Kenmore ave is a small bow shop and has a 20yd range. Alied sportsmans club on clinton in alden has an indoor shoot on thursdays starting in January. And Hawkeye Bowmen is just down the road from allied great club but does not have an indoor range.
  16. I agree check out the dec office for public land. There is no public land in Erie county open to hunting, so you will have to travel to find public land. I know there allow hunting in Darian Lake state park but I believe they require a permit? Good Luck.
  17. Sorry for the late to enter this thread but I had the same problem with my CVA optima and it was the firing pin that was rusted. I took it to a gunsmith and he removed the bushing for me. I cleaned and lubed it and now it works fine. I didn't realize that the firing pin would rust so quickly, now i remove it and clean/lube it with every cleaning.
  18. I have a propane smoker and I added a regulator to the line from the tank to the smoker and can control the temp fine. I had to do this because i couldn't get the temp low enough. now it works great.
  19. Does any one in the western NY area use or want deer hides. I process my own deer and hate to throw out the hide. PM me if you could use or know some one who will take them. I have 2 does right now.
  20. Happy birthday! Hope you stick a nice buck today!! Good Luck have a great day.
  21. Great buck!! now take that chain saw and clear some shooting lanes.
  22. Sounds like a shoulder or muscle hit. They will bleed a lot but that won't kill him. Also if it went over a mile it would have bedded down several times in that distance if it was a lethal hit. Sounds like you might have pushed it. Back off for a few days you may see him again.
