Fished my tree stand

Bet that thing is going to be loud in the rain! -
That sucks!! those apple trees have been growing for quite a while and now that you have a nice established orchard the Bruins move in and screw it up. I've seen your trail cam picks of the bear destroying you pop up blind. They have no manners!

don't know anything about the tech stuff but it's a cool site for playing with string colors!

Very interesting project. I assume you would turn it on with your forearm hand.

thanks guys, I can see all the points mentioned. The sights I have on the gun are HI- VIZ and the front magnetic sight is a large green fiber optic and the rear is adjustable 2 red fiber optics. Part of the problem is the front sight is so big that it covers a turkey head so I had it sighted in so I could aim at the base of the neck and hit it good in the head. But if i have a brain cramp and aim too high I miss high! Secondly, I knocked the gun over opening weekend and the rear sight moved and part of it broke off. I re sighted it but now I don't trust it and I just felt that the turkey red dot would be a nice fit for me. I do fear the brain cramp that forgets to turn it on with a bird coming in quick. lawd as for seeing/ judging distance the truglo turkey scope has a duel reticle with a 2.5 moa dot surrounded by a circle that is supposed to be a 24" circle at 30 yds. I assume that should be about the height of a gobbler at 30 yds. I've looked through one and it sure does make it easy to find your target and aim.

I am thinking of putting a truglo red dot turkey scope on my 870 12 ga. anyone have one and what are your thoughts? Should I have a gunsmith drill and tap the mounts or would the side mount bracket work. I heard that the side mount can loosen up? I only use the gun for spring turkey so I don't need a cross-hair scope. I was looking for something more accurate than my fibre optic rifle sights. Thanks guys.

Great job, some nice footage, and no bs. Keep 'em coming!

Congrats on a great bird. Were you and your dad hunting together?

Red was that on Catt 24?

Thanks guys, I was going to go turkey hunting this am but didn't get up. Mowed the lawn, and now I've been working on my sisters boat. PITA out in the hot sun! I think it's time for the first cold one! Prolly take the motorcycles for a spin later.

I heard a story years ago where a guy took just the tail fan from a gobble and crawled behind it to close the distance on a gobble hung up in the middle of a big field. Did the same thing. crawled right up to the bird and killed it. Hard to believe as their eyesight is so good. But just like every love sick male, you see what your mind wants you to see. LOL Seriously you need to be real careful. If this style of hunting turkeys takes off i'm sure someone is going to get shot or shoot themselves as they crawl with their safety off.

Here is a quick view.

My sister has a 1991 sunbird corsair 175 w/ omc outdrive. It has not been in the water in more than 8 years. I am going to help her get it back in the water. It looks like I will have to replace the rubber bellows. Anyone have any experience or advice besides the obvious (take it to a dealer) I am hoping to find a repair manual before I start. The boat has been garaged so other the being pretty dirty the boat is in great shape. I am a little concerned with all the rubber/hoses as I assume they are close to dry rot. I will replace all I can get at. Thanks for any advice.

Nice!!! looks great. Hope to see it in person before the end of the month

Congrats, and great story.

Went out to little valley Catt co. and did not hear a bird until 10:30 this morning. (one single gobble) Saw 2 hens in the cut corn last night, 1 hen today same field. There was very little scratching in the woods even though there were acorns everywhere! Yesterday I did not hear any shots, today I heard 2 all morning. I definitely believe the numbers are way down. I am sure it is a lot of factors such as: predators, bad springs/ poor hatches, habitat, and increased hunting pressure. I won't be surprised if NY cuts back or eliminates Fall hunting for a few years. Ugh!

We saw 1 guy on Saturday, and we set up on a bird on Sunday and another hunter came in and set up 100-150 yrds. away and started calling so we moved a little away form him. It worked pretty good as we sounded like several hens going back and forth. At one time i thought for sure the birds were going to pass between us and we might get a shot, but the birds were on the other side of a swamp(i didn't know was there) and they hung up. The other guy called way too much so after a while we moved away to set up again about 200 yds. hoping that the birds might be more comfortable coming that way but we bumped them and that was it. The terrain there is very flat, so when you try to move on a bird you have to really go out of the way because they can see so far. Never heard any shots. It was a good "dress rehearsal" now this weekend I will be more prepared to go after those bastards.

It turns out the 3 day license is not for turkey only small game, so I needed a regular out of state license $125 and a separate turkey tag. But I could go along and video no license required. So that's what I did. It was a good weekend, didn't kill a bird but we got into them both days. Had some good early morning action, did a little scouting, and generally gave a turkey hunting seminar to two rookies. All went well and now I think they can go out on their own and start to learn by their own mistakes. Every day in the turkey woods is a learning experience.!

thanks, it looks like I will be getting an out of state license. Ohio has a 3 day license for $40. Maybe I should just go a head and get the turkey stamp so I can hunt also.
-
In NYS do you have to possess a valid hunting license to take some one out turkey hunting who has their license? All I would be doing is calling for them, not carrying a weapon. The reason I ask is I am going to Ohio to take out my brother and his son turkey hunting and if i'm correct I need to have a valid OH license just to guide them. This seems ridiculous! Pay for an out of state license just so I can help my brother get started in hunting.

I finally got out to scout behind my brothers on Sat. morning. Didn't hear a bird although in their defense it got foggy and I know fog screws them up. I was really hoping to hear some birds as last year during late deer season i saw a good size flock of turkeys and was hoping they would be in the area this spring. It was nice seeing so many birds last fall as the last few years the numbers have been decreasing. . Oh well, next time out I will be toting a 12ga.

Lawd, I feel your pain, it gets even worse... you set down a cold one and 5 minutes later you can not find it ! nothing worse than loosing a beer. As for the window repair you should post the pics I'm sure we all would enjoy the comic relief!! JK Good luck.

They must be close if you can hear them over the sound of the bubbling hot tub!!! lol
