Old enough stick em!!

I remove the quiver and hang it same as lawd, I believe that you practice all summer with out the quiver so why chance an errant shot by hunting with it on. Although i spined a buck once and struggled to get a back up shot as I watched him crawl away by his front feet. If I had the quiver on I might have been able to get off a second shot. I didn't break his back only a stinger, at 60 yds. he got up and ran off. I was heart broken.

Congrats Joe, now you can concentrate on a buck!

I always use ground meat for jerky, use new Hilti firecaulk gun with a double shooter tip from cabelas. I can post recipe later when I have more time but I put in red pepper to taste, black pepper, garlic powder, mustard powder, mustard seed, salt, mortins tender quick, brown sugar, and liquid smoke. then dry on dehydrator for 4-1/2 hrs. comes out great and it doesn't pull out you teeth to eat. If you google it you can find tons of good recipes for making jerky and then tweek them to your tastes.

Great job, any more to the story? Looks like a nice deer!

There is more info needed, is this private property? do you both have permission to hunt this property? is there a property line involved? I hunt a piece of private property that i alone have permission to hunt and the neighbor has set up 2 ladder stands literally right on the line (possibly over the line) both facing into my piece. Until now I have not set a stand too close as I don't want to deal with the confrontation, I usually use my climber and set up closer when I know he's not there. But this situation really gets my goat! I've been thinking of getting some more posted signs, walking the lot line, and putting them up closer together. When he shows up to hunt those stands he should get the point. At the same time I don't want to get back to my truck to find 4 flat tires or worse. People can be real jerks..

congrats!! all cut up and in the freezer? -
I currently shoot the NAP Hellrazors 100 gr. and was looking on line for a back up pack of 3 and I noticed there is a 100 gr. crossbow broadhead. Does any one know if they are the same or are crossbow bolts different threads? The pictures look identical.

Anyone have a killer venison sausage patty recipe?
2012_taco replied to Fletch's topic in Game Recipes / Cooking
you can add some cheap ground beef, about 2/3 venison to beef and mix in Montreal Steak Seasoning toss on the bbq grill. Makes great burgers! -
The woods smells like fall already, it feels like it is hunting season. 1 week away!!

I've never gone goose hunting, have a friend says he will take me but we never seem to get together. One of these days I would like to give it a try. But once bow opens I will be in a tree stand as much as possible.

First Day / Few Days for the Bow Season - What are you going to do?
2012_taco replied to burmjohn's topic in Bow Hunting
I'm not sure what i will do. Usually I wait until after the rut before i try for a doe ( I like to have the live bait around) BUT after not getting a deer last year and not taking one with a bow for a couple of years, I may have to make some strategic changes in my philosophies. -
I've been doing the sighting log for years, I don't remember getting the 5 year patch but i know i got the 10 year patch a couple of years ago, I put all the info in my computer before I sent in the report and look back on it during the season to see if this year is better than the average. I've been wanting to expand the info to include weather, wind, temps. etc. but never seem to get around to doing it. Anyone else this anal about their records?

Count me in, I am always happy just having something to enter. -
I won't be shooting for a couple of weeks, so keep practicing and we can shoot when I get back. See ya...

Went out and shot the Labor Day shoot at Hawkeye Bowmen today w/ Lawdwaz had a great time. There were over 200 shooters and the kitchen was going full blast. It was great getting out and shooting different targets at various yards. Everyone must have the bowhunting bug, there were all kinds of archers out there. The guys with the rangefinders and binos just to make sure they hit every target dead center in the 12 ring to the father and son/daughter teams who are just out having a good time together. As for me and Lawd there were 30 dead animals when we got done. I could care less about the scores, I just want to shot to kill. Although when all is said and done the score does give you some bragging rights! Better luck next time.. HA HA

When i was turkey hunting on Memorial Day weekend i remember there was a heavy frost one morning, that did a number on all the flowering fruit trees in the southern tier. I haven't seen much for apples in the woods this year. Hope next year fairs better.

The pears are already gone, I moved the camera back into the woods, put it on a deer run.

Looked this post up to compare the pics to what I have this year..... And the bucks look like the same ones as last couple of years. I know for a fact that at least 1 of them from 2013 are hanging on a wall, but they look real similar. The gene pool is doing good.!

The younger ones fought while the big guys sat and watched! -
been putting up stands on 3 properties last 3 weekends. Wish I had 2 more weekends but am going to visit my son in So Cal. for 2 weeks and I don't want to tear up the woods too close to the opener. I will just use my climber for the areas I didn't get to put up a stand.
