possible hunting partner wanted?
nycredneck replied to aqua750's topic in Land For Sale, Lease, and Requests
Wish I were a younger man again, I would have jumped all over this. I am a handy man sort of guy and never wanted to own because I felt I needed to "wander". But this I could have done for for a couple summers and made some friends to boot. Coming from the city I never had anyone to hunt with. I am married now with young ones, to late for me. -
Sorry but I worked 14 hrs today and Im tired.

NO.

Congrats, I told you you'd find it!

All are Mountain Lions, haven't you heard? They have been spotted all over!!!

Yeah, whatever happened to the deer? Need an update.

I have shot bucks I called in by tickling antlers together in late Oct and one came to a can call Nov 15. I won't tell you how many times I tried those things and they did not work. lol

I work anywhere from 50 to 80 hrs in a five day week. The project I'm on now will last almost two months and I have had only 3 days off so far this month, hunting season started last weekend and I have not seen my family hardly at all this month and forget about hunting. I get paid OK but feel it should be more, for any day I don't work, I don't get paid, no vacation or sick days here. It makes me angry now that I have a family but it is what it is I guess. Had to stop typing just now because even though I finished 2 hrs ago I just got phone call. Always try to not do these kinds of projects but I am helping a friend so he can put this one on his resume. Always get phone calls after hours and on weekends and don't like it but they usually revolve around people trying to line up things for all departments so everything will run smooth when we get back on Monday- Friday.

The maker claims that his does are indoors in artificial light so the come into heat sooner. I have no idea but thats what he said. I would hate to ruin a spot, but I don't think that will happen. So earlier is better, I will try it on a drag and see what happens.

Good luck, I'm sure you will find it tomorrow.

Thanks, that was the entry hole. 2012 Elite Pure and I use good old school Thunderheads, been putting 'em down for twenty five years. This deer ran 60yrds with a slice in it's heart.

Welcome, nice to hear from an experienced hunter.

Here is mine, took the pic last year, first shot at a deer with this new bow. It's my fourth bow in 25yrs.

Looking to get back to 3K this year.

I never used scents much over the years, maybe a couple times and with no success. So I won a bottle of Doe Estrus and I guess I can use it on a drag walking in to my stand then hang it under my stand. I would do this around the peak of the rut, Nov 7-21 I guess? Am I doing it right?

Over the past few years I have amassed a collection of used but in great shape archery tools, most I bought cheap on archerytalk.com or craigslist and some, like a bow press, I have made myself. I can cut and fletch my own arrows and also replace strings, add a peep or do just about anything a shop can do. Iearned from asking questions on archerytalk plus whatever I can find for my specific bow. It helps time wise as I don't have to drop it off one weekend only to be told it's not ready the next weekend and have to wait till the following weekend to pick it up. It is very satisfying to know how to set up your own bow.

Must be young ones if they were together or was it two separate sightings.

Yeah, can't say he is stealing till he actually leaves the store and by then …it's off to the races.

I remember not spending a nickel on hunting clothes, wore my regular jeans, killed deer. Now I have a crazy assortment of bargain camo, it doesn't really match like a set would, but I still shoot 4 or 5 deer a year with my bow. I also have a house two new cars and twins.

A couple of my arrows have all the same color vane, why?, Because I ran out of the other color when fletching. I simply turn the nock with one vane facing straight up then even in the AM darkness when setting up in my treestand I can nock the arrow correctly… it can only go one way on the string if it's facing up.

I always bend at the waist, always. It's how it's done correctly.

I have used Hoppe's on one of my bows, small amount and did not worry about smell, I hunt an area that has all sorts of smells anyway.

Send it to my boss if it's full please.

I don't know the exact number but a good close guess would be 50 deer about 5 or 6 bucks. I hunt alone so no memories with friends or family but I do enjoy my time outdoors and have a blast. All but 2 with bow and arrow, my first two were gun and never used it again.
