  1. How many other areas of NY have you hunted besides the region 4 areas?
  2. I don't know about the worst. I have had a terrible year for gettign out and I hunted up north one weekend with the muzzleloader. For the bowhunting I have only been out 5 times. In those 5 sits I have seen 3 bucks that are over the 140 mark and at least 3.5 year olds and One I believe is 5.5 years old. Saturday Morning the chasing was crazy. 22 deer I saw within 75 yards of my stand and 11 of those were bucks. Pretty good sit for a crappy state.
  3. Been a while since we've had an AR thread that blew up into 100 ages. Let the tally begin...lol
  4. Sure you do, You have a choice. As for your "let them shoot all the does they want" comments it shows you don't have a grasp of the differing habitat and population densities across NY. There is no way you could responsibly pull that off. (If you true goal is the health of the herd). If you just want an easier time shooting the next buck for your wall I can see how you could support that approach.
  5. a guy that donated the black bear hunt in Alaska for our QDMA banquet gave me a couple packages of that. It was freaking unbelievable.
  6. I wonder how much the sport becoming a solo endeavor contributes to this. I grew up hunting with a consistent group of 6-8 guys. We did as you did. Everyone chipped in and all hunting stopped until we got the deer. Kind of a pack mentality tracking and getting ahead of a wounded deer. There were very few that we didn’t end up getting. In today’s hunting culture the group or deer camp is a dying breed. I think that also effects the teaching and passing on of skills like tracking.
  7. I could see doing a first 9 day season and run only weekends from there.
  8. So in these camps you belonged to or had knowledge of, what did they do? Public flogging of anyone that wounded a deer?
  9. "Weekend warriors"? Seems pretty derogatory towards folks that work or are just a casual hunter. If someone works and only hunts weekends and Thanksgiving that is 9 days total of season.
  10. All the numbers are great. Just one question. when using those numbers to support the shortening of gun season you should include how many bucks and deer are taken during the different segments of the season. You seem to be supporting a shortened season but don't say to what duration. if is is a 10 day season then how many bucks and deer are taken in that portion of the season compared to the total that you feel is a detriment to the herd.
  11. When i have been engaged talking about topics like maximum hunting distance and ethical range, I have actually had bow hunters tell me that their range is "x" (25,30,40,45 whatever). And wouldn't dream of pushing it beyond that.... (wait for it, wait for it)..."unless it was a really really big buck". I about lose my mind at that point.
  12. anything in the magnum category are outstanding.
  13. It's like watching a train wreck. Can't help but look.
  14. oh no. i meant the comments after the article that was linked. Actually on the Fox news site. Typical anti crap
  15. The comments are hysterical. We really have done a disservice to the human species by protecting the stupid from their demise and allowing them to breed.
  16. I am actually in favor of a flat tax. So I guess you could say yes I believe the child tax credit should go as well. I''d even entertain a flat rate with the addition of a sales and use tax. If you and I decide to have children why should our tax burden be less than someone who chose not to if we are making the same amount? I do not understand why you keep clouding the water with State ranking in contributions it has absolutely no bearing on the taxable responsibility of the individual when discussing federal taxes. I can say with 100% confidence that you pay way more tax than you should and I don't even know you. I also know I do as well. When just discussing federal taxes I can also say that you and I, individually, pay less federal income tax than people making the same income as you and I in other states with less or no state income tax. Our ultimate tax burden is without a doubt way higher than about any other place in the country but that is NOT becasue of the federal taxes. It IS becasue of the state and local taxes. SO my point is I understand your anger about the taxes, I share it. But your anger is misplaced. It should be directed at the state and local level. Because on the federal tax stage we have been getting a discount that other people, making what we make, in the country do not get
  17. where are you hunting this weekend that you are worried about temps low enough to freeze a deer?
  18. Seems like a whole new grading system. lol. Nah not interested. She's a Walther PPK girl...
  19. See that is where you screwed up. Should have weighed them for record on their way out lol
  20. Most of the women I dated couldn't have pulled that off...lol
  21. I'd post his pic anywhere I could get it up.
  22. I understand you are upset but you just aren't gettign it. In your you have to compare Jim to Sam from NY that also makes 90k. What you are trying to do is equal to comparing your and my tax burden to Warren Buffets. That is the apples and oranges.
