  1. I think what really changed my priority list was the taking up of bow hunting and how many tags for deer I get where I live now. The bow hunting takes more practice and there are always tags left so I hunt the entire deer season. I remember when October and early November was small game and Duck season. Deer season was more abbreviated becasue there were so many fewer tags. I didn't ML hunt so that freed up a weekend in October and one in December. After Deer was small game again until the ice got safe for ice fishing. There really weren't any turkeys around so That time was fishing from April through the summer. We never really use to "scout' for deer so July through September was free time. Toss in some fly fishing on the West Canada to get through the summer. It appears that the deer hunting changes is what has squeezed my schedule and elbowed other things out.
  2. get the patent going Buckmaster. a window mount that can be used to look out both windows.
  3. Yeah. That's a bear. I have a window mount that has a quick disconnect and i bought a spare mount for my collapsible leg camera tripod. I set the tripod on the passenger seat and us the clamp on the driver window. I am so left eye dominant I can barely look through binoculars with both eyes...lol
  4. proof that you aren't the only crazy one in the world? lol
  5. If you aren't going to be carrying them and only using in the vehicle have you considered just using a spotting scope?
  6. I guess you can toss me in the "jack of all trades and master of none" category. I enjoy being able to take part in many different seasons. I don't feel I have to be at the top of any specific one. I get the joy out of participating and should health or other reasons pull me out of one I have others to take part in. I will say that my fishing has taken a back seat in the last 20 years while my daughter grew up. I felt I needed time with her and about the only time I fish now is with her.
  7. I have never done it with squirrel but have with chicken. I would suggest not adding the rice until you get home. Otherwise it might be mush.
  8. yup. I let it fall off the bones. Remove the bones and shred it and then put it over cooked rice.
  9. Happy birthday Eddie. I wish you many many more
  10. Well you stated that unless a gun is capable of 2" at 200 it is not adequate. how long have you been hunting? long enough to have used shotguns prior to sabots? How about bow hunting? Ever hunt with a pistol?
  11. Apparently you are a shoddy hunter that needs to think of the well being of the deer more. SMMFH I'd consider that a wonderful shot and outcome Jeremy.
  12. Well Richard noggin I can tell you this. When he hunts with the optima it is in areas that are under 100 yards. He chose the load because that is what most in our group have been using. Sure he could probably get it better but why bother if the gun exceeds the conditions you will be hunting in Especially when you are talking about 3-4 days of hunting. With my encore I am perfectly happy with the group at 150. I'd be fine pushing it to 200. I've taken 3 deer at 170 plus with it and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. What size is a vital organ, broad size target on a whitetail?
  13. Seems to be a growing segment out there so maybe the discussion will grow. i didn't realize how popular it was until I started reading on the internet.
  14. Looked like a collar to me at first glance but when I enhanced it just looks like color variation. Maybe it is the light, maybe her fur. If it is fur you will be able to ID her easily
  15. I've hunted squirrels and never thought twice about it really. I've been out all morning and just left in my game vest. i do gut them as soon as I shoot them though. I do that in warm or cold weather. I will say that there is night and day difference in skinning a warm squirrel VS one that has cooled off. when cool their skin if held on by the same crap they attach heat shields on the space shuttle with. lol.
  16. There is meat on the "backstrap" but not a lot. For squirrels I use the quarters mainly. For rabbits I use the whole thing (they have a bigger backstrap)
  17. Congrats. Well if you need a good gunner give me a holler. Those locked up gees are just soooooo easy to hit it's like shootign fish in a barrel....(insert sarcasm). Any bans?
  18. You are in Rochester? There are quite a few folks on here in the area.

  20. I'll dig for what I read. I think it is like the 7 round deal. No formal change to the law but some letter of understanding thing.
  21. Post that link up if you will. I still have 8 boxes of the Federals with the barnes expanders. Those bullets were just awesome. If you say these are as good I am interested in a case as well.
