  1. I remember it being quite a bit you get than the other branches as well.
  2. Nice looking ride Taco. Only one color for a cruiser in my book...black.
  3. I remember years and years ago when I did target shoot with an old fiberglass long bow, canting a bow was what we did becasue we couldn't keep the arrow on the shelf...lol. too much weight and too much finger pinch so it rolled the string and the arrow popped off. Same thing happened when I started with a compound. No one I knew heard of a release and those simple flipper rests had more than one arrow pop off of them. That got my cousin in a very bad habit of putting up his index finger while drawing to hold the arrow on the rest. Didn't pose too much of a problem until we actually went hunting and that habit made his finger occupy the same space as a very sharp broad head.
  4. has to be higher than 35# Let me add this. These bows do not have a measurable defined peak poundage like a compound bow does. it will vary based on YOUR actual draw length. I believe they are all rated at 28". so if you pull longer it will be higher. shorter it will be lower. I have no idea by how much and don't know how DEC would check it.
  5. with that flecking it almost looks like an immature goshawk to me. Very nice save Grampy
  6. No he is saying to cant your hand but keep the bow plumb. (or close) i believe. I shoot my compound the same way. very loose hand (or open) with the V between my thumb and index finger bearing the pressure
  7. Is get a big poly tank and some roof gutter. Presto. All the non potable you want. Lol
  8. We use this. https://www.eccotemp.com/eccotemp-l5-portable-tankless-water-heater/ with an on demand 12v or 110 volt RV pump you have as much hot water as you can run through it. I've got a 275 gallon holding tank and a 20# propane hooked to it. About a 15 minute hot shower feels great after a day out in late season.
  9. The posting Doewacker put up explains it well. They determine how many does they need to take. pull back the landowner and Disabled vet numbers that usually apply. That yields a number. Apply variables like success rate and they calculate they need to give out ???? number of permits. Say the number is 100 permits need to be issued for ease of discussion. They look at their normal application rate for the area. Say historically 300 hunters apply in the area. That gives you a 1 in 3 chance. It's a computerized system. so you, me and Doewacker are at the license issuing agent in our home towns and applying for the same area trying to get one of those 100 permits. My info goes through and "denied". Doewacker's info goes through and "denied". Yours goes through next and ":approved". You were the 1 out of 3. now the application period is all done on September 30th. They look at that area and see that only 98 permits were issued during this process. They randomly select 2 people that got denied for that area like me and Doewacker and they mail us the permits. After that process if all the permits are NOT given out they put those units up for the second application period that starts on November 1st. Seems to be the same areas year after year that are on the under issued list.
  10. We aren't talking about land owner permits and on this topic you are wrong
  11. Yeah, those guys on the payroll can't do their own dirty work. lol
  12. I thought 70+ NY residents got $5 hunting licenses and the Bow and ML was free. The Fishing was also $5 i thought
  13. You line jumping SOB, you stole all my thunder. lol
  14. no. Odds and random draw is made based on the number they believe that will apply. Once the application time closes if any are left over they will go back through an send any left overs (if there are any) to that unit randomly to people that applied and didn't get them.
  15. I hunt right down by some large tracts in 7R. After opening weekend there is about no shootign or traffic on those tracts.
  16. you are welcome to come out to 7R of 8H and hunt with me any time Steve.
  17. I knew a guy that use to use Thompson's water seal on peat moss. I asked him about the smell and he said he does it a year out and lets it all off gas. He swore it never soaked up any water.
  18. I have an issue with that on two of the properties I hunt. Tallest brow s are in the 3-4" range.
  19. Love this time of year when their racks are heavy and in groups
