The Psychology Behind the Quest For Trophy Racks
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Doc's topic in Deer Hunting
I've read the responses here Doc and I think I have a bit of a different take. I don't think it is as much the psychology behind it as the millions of years of genetic encoding. I think as a species we have a desire and even a need to have our efforts acknowledged and admired. A hunter in those long ago times was granted stature based on how well they hunted. Females selected their mates on the basis of how well they provided. So I think the tendency is there in our very make up. Like anything else there are varying degrees of intensity. Why do we keep score in sporting events? To acknowledge the better players by saying they won. As a measure of a hunter I would think that a person that consistently takes the more mature animals would be viewed as the better hunter. Age and antler size are generally proportional. and the older and more experienced animals (prey) would have the greatest life experience and most survival knowledge. Therefore they would be the most difficult quarry to take. . -
The new Colt Cobra
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Water Rat's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I've wanted a Python or Anaconda since I shot my buddy's years ago. Just could never pony up the coin. He had both in stainless. The Python was 6" and I believe the Anaconda was as well. Dan, those Dan Wessons were nothing to sneeze at. Owning a Dan Wesson pistol pack is on my bucket list. Hard to beat those tensioned barrels. -
"It's tough". Oh they can cry me a river. I know folks that have been forced into a career and hate every day they wake up and have to go to work. That is tough. You can't list what these folks CHOOSE to do as tough.

Eddie, Is there a yellow button (back up safety switch) that needs to be pushed to back up? If that seat switch is on good order I would bet a drink on a malfunctioning backup safety switch or the wiring coming from it

It depends on the balance of your bow. Shoot yours open handed (using a wrist strap) and what does it do? Mine has just a front stabilizer (I don't use a quiver on my bow either). Open handed mine take a very slow roll forward after the shot. Like second hand on a watch slow. SO there is no real benefit of doing that on mine.

Best purchase in a while. http://www.fieldandstreamshop.com/p/fenix-uc35-usb-rechargable-led-flashlight-15fnxufnxc35rchrgcac/15fnxufnxc35rchrgcac https://www.fenix-store.com/fenix-uc35-rechargeable-led-flashlight/ Rechargeable tactical flashlight. has 5 brightness settings. The bright is crazy bright. Mid range setting is more than enough to blood trail at night. and it will run for 9 hours on a charge at that setting. lowest setting is good for 150 hours. It's on sale for $30 off now. Same sale price I picked it up for last year.

I haven't watched an outdoors show in years. The one I use to enjoy was Tred Barta. Never knew if he was going to get an animal or not.

So you use a back stabilizer? Did you really need it and do you use a quiver?

I believe both charges were for the calf (cow). The bull didn't yield any charges. "pled guilty to charges of intentionally allowing an antlerless elk to go to waste and an additional charge of taking an elk without the proper license" Sounds to me like he shot at a bull in a running group and hit the cow(calf). Apparently he must be accustom to skipping the rules to suit him with his previous charges.

I don't see anyone saying he deserved it. I see many who are not at all surprised of the outcome given where he traveled. He went there not understanding the potential harm that could have happened. About on par with Timothy Treadwell. The situation sucks and I think it shouldn't have happened but I am not going to get all teary eyed for someone that willingly put themselves in a bad situation.

And I bet that except for you and your wife not a soul will notice one bit. -
I told my wife when this story broke that I bet there was an over zealous guard / interrogator that is missing in NK right now. That little dough boy dictator is bat sh!t crazy but I honestly think he doesn't want any type of conflict with the US until his missiles are fully functional. The kid was propaganda fodder and someone got carried away and they had to get him back to the US quickly.

It is a different culture over there. One we understand little and relate to less. My Uncle was there during the Korean war. Told this story to me once after a few beers. He never spoke of his service. His mother sent him a nice red hand knit scarf for Christmas, it was monogrammed. He wore it a lot and one day he washed it. Hung it on his tent line to dry and when he went to get it it was gone. He notice a South Korean soldier wearing it. He went to the soldiers superior and asked that he get his scarf back. He said the officers were the ones most likely to speak English. The officer approached the soldier and spoke to him. The soldier handed the scarf to his superior and in turn it was handed to my Uncle. The soldier knelt down and the superior drew his pistol and executed the soldier right there.

Kitchen floor help
Culvercreek hunt club replied to diplomat019's topic in DIY - Do It Yourself, tutorials and videos
I've seen it happen like this with grout issues as well. Retempering of grout, using that last little bit that got away from them. poor mixing with additives. I've seen it pop and the tile adhesion be fine. -

Yup. It is. Chances are it is going to show and not match. Unless the floor is brand new, even if you had the same grout from the same lot number, once it's down and used it isn't going to be perfect. Picture painting a spot on a 5 year old car -

Well since Diplomat already got his issue solved, let me really derail things...lol. Here is a bathroom I just finished. complete gut, It had a 1 piece fiberglass tub shower unit in there. The tile is floor to ceiling. new plumbing, electric. The floor tiles were a biotch. 3' long to look like wood plank. closet was all tiled inside for an open look.
