Crossbow Regulations- Be Sure to Comply
Culvercreek hunt club replied to CharlieNY's topic in CrossBow Hunting
Nope. You need to BUY the ML privilege. They both say Bow/ML because you can use in either season once you BUY the privilege. -
Congrats. check the teeth

Crossbow Regulations- Be Sure to Comply
Culvercreek hunt club replied to CharlieNY's topic in CrossBow Hunting
They are special privileges. with the first special privilege you get an either sex. with you second special privilege you get an antlerless only. either can be used in either season. so you must have purchased a bow license previously? -
I don't get the emotion against taking them. They will survive. Thanks to Walt Disney there is too much human feelings imparted to the animals on our part. I ask the ones that feel it would be cruel to the mother or the fawn, how many of you have showed up 8 weeks after a litters birth and walked out with one of the puppies? If there is "emotion" on eithers part, how would that be different?

Compensating for taking a shot from Treestand
Culvercreek hunt club replied to beachpeaz's topic in Bow Hunting
it is all form in my opinion. Dropping your arm and not bending at the waist while keeping the same anchor point will stretch you draw length. This is brutal on a bow that doesn't have a hard backwall. Even with the new bows with a hard backwall additional pressure against that wall will put more energy and cause a hit shot. -
18 foot Grumman Canoe $600

You'd need a new truck to haul it...lol -
My uncle had one on his shotgun and put more deer down than I can count. He swore by the thing and it worked for him.

Let me toss this out there. Those worried about the devastating results this would have on the herd and populations. I added these numbers up quick becasue they have them under so many categories (anyone feel free to correct if I missed something) for the 2014-2015 season. Bow license sales. 205,676. Bow total take 37,697 Success % 18% Now assuming all the rest of the season take is gun ML and cross bow. License sales. 590,288 Total remaining take 165,276 Success % 27 Now toss all these hunters that "lack the woodsman ship" to hunt with a bow in there with crossbow. Would be vastly more difficult than, say, a firearm, right? After all they don't have the skills. Their success rate would have to go down and they are only 9% better than the bowhunters and they have a gun. And let's remember that these expert bow hunters that only get 18% success are also gun hunting for the most part and given their extreme abilities they must be taking the bulk of the deer when they have a gun in their hands? right? what am I missing?
-
Which part? The guy int he pick or those assuming that he is a no good poacher becasue he is out there?
-
I hear this a lot and I don't get the argument. if you look at license sales and compare to the harvest numbers, even with guns in the mix of the seasons the herd isn't "decimated" It's a low percentage that can close the deal with a gun so it ceertainly isn't going to happen with a crossbow.

I used it to hit forge welding and heat treating/ temper temps.
-
I have a couple of the crayons becasue I needed to hit specific temps for the steel I was using while black smithing. They are no brainers, not expensive and very accurate. Would work perfect for this.

What happened to the Xbow inclusion thread?
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Steuben Jerry's topic in CrossBow Hunting
Oh there will be the small little regions that are not included at first. Kind of like how some are now. But those areas are also some of the areas that have the biggest population issues and eventually once the "sky is falling" crowd is publicly disproved they will be also. The crossbow posses no greater danger that a compound and I have seen more arrows accidentally launched from compounds than crossbows so I believe a case could be made that they are actually safer is populated areas. Time will tell. -

How about this. Full inclusion is coming. Get use to it. -
I have never had a problem with the graying of the meat once i maintained at least 4" between the water bath and meat. I use the bath on meats that i want to be very juicy like a turkey or roast. It also is a great collector for soup stock. When I do a Turkey i put in celery, onions, carrots and spices. I switch out my normal oval pan for an aluminum throw away one and leave about a 2" gap to the smoker sides around it. It catches all the drippings in the water and once cooled it actually gels and needs to be cut by 50-75% with water to make the stock for the carcass to go in for the soup.

I've seen him shoot a compound. Might want to pull you head out of your very dark, unsanitary place and talk about something you know about. -

with the low percentage of hunters that actually take a deer with a gun and yo are worried about mass killing with a crossbow in their hands? Oh come on. -

were the 2014 and 2015 crossbow regulations the same each year? how are you factoring in the large areas of the state that were impacted by the antlerless only for the first tow weeks last year? And ML went down by 4,000 from 2014 to 2015 so do you know that it wasn't the ML's hunters that took up the crossbow?
