  1. Early goose season just got bumped up to 5 shot . I am not a 535 fan. A friend and I paid hell trying to get his to pattern and put a 100 rounds through it. It shot great with the 3" but the 3-1/2's shot donut patterns. We tried multiple choke as well as custom machined chokes. Couldn't get a consistent pattern with the big shells. I would look in the used market at that price.
  2. The mix I put in had WR and oats in it. I put it in last weekend. I hae never seen it disced after seeding. I would thin that would burry the seed to deeply,. I don't have a roller or cultipacker so I opt for a chain link fence drag and the rain for seed contact. The mix I put down sadi 1/4" to 1/2" bury for the seed. I would think a disc would drive it deeper than that.
  3. You going to be able to get out and give it a whirl? One word of advice. don't want until you need it to put it in 4 wheel. It is easier to get through than get out....lol
  4. Anything that is attached to the arrow tightly enough not to move on initial launch or through flight like this FOB is going to provide resistance to penetration. It may pop off but it is limiting the penetration as compared to a fletching that is tracking the wound channel of the broadhead or rolls againts the shaft. I can't see using them, These rank up there with the tracking strings that attached where your broad head screws into the arrow shaft.
  5. Hey Virgil, Did you get it in 4 wheel drive? Friend has a 2 and a 4 , both very nice machines.
  6. One addition. What WNY said is true----within any restrictions of your permit.
  7. Cabin, This is the mix I put down. http://www.plantbiologic.com/p-225-outfitters-blend.aspx
  8. Patient: "Doctor, Doctor, it hurts whe I do this" Doctor: " Don't do that" How is it getting "knocked around"? I am a firm believer that if you have optics on a gun a hard case is a MUST. If you are talking about anything other than transport concerns then no matter what mount you have your optics are in "danger" and the mount typ doen'st matter. Use it as a hammer or a crutch and you better be checking zero...lol
  9. NO idea, I hope they are as good as you say though becasue the mix we just put in had them in it.
  10. The shifting? THey don't have a clutch. just let off the gas and click the shifter. I am not familiar with the Yamahas but the suzukis and Hondas are thumb shift buttons. I bet she could figure it all out in a matter of minutes. I have a Polaris 500 but if it is primarily afor farm/camp use I would stay away from the primary belt drives liek the Polaris. Even in low range you can smell the belts when really pulling. My Father's Bombardier Traxter 500 is thumb shift and not belt primary and it is a pulling animal. It needs more agressive tires but even now it is nicer to pull with than my polaris. THis past weekend we dropped in a few plots and his worked the discs much better than mine. I had mine on the york rake.
  11. I am sooooooo not interested in seeing a super predator like that in NY. There is something comforting about being at the top of the food chain.
  12. Too much cheese in his diet I am betting
  13. From what I have read and a family member that makes very good and crisp pickles, the brin can't be hot when you pour it in the jar over the cukes. I am going to try this recipe when I get the order. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flA5zZcKAig
  14. Just bought a pressure canner and some other supplies. i will be doing Venison this year I hope. I also have pickles and salsa on the list for this year. The wife has placed an order for apple sauce so I have a few things to keep me busy between the morning and evening hunt. Hate to plug another site but there are some very good canning threads on this one. http://thesurvivalpodcast.com/forum/index.php
  15. Anyone use it since the Un-Safe Act? and fyi. you won't wear that Remington out. But I really understand the use of excuses to justify another purchase...lol.
  16. Pickle the heart. Backstraps- rub with olive oil and sprinkle cyenne pepper and garlic powder and roll and knead the pepper and garlic in . Grill on very hot grill in about a 6" length to feed 2. Medium rare at is the most I like it cooked my preference is almost like a rare grilled tuna. seared on outside and warm in the middle. I just placed my order for the pressure canner.so this year I am adding canned venison to the arsenal.
  17. Well I bet teh bird seed and feeder folks would be interested in seeing your back up.
